Particle Pearl
« on: November 05, 2004, 07:59:41 AM »
Hi all,

I'm looking at adding a particle pearl to my arsenal. Is visionary looking at bringing out a particle pearl ball in the near future ? If so - about when ?

Thanks

Dale

I'll be honest with ya Dale, If your looking for a particle pearl STORM is the one and only company IN MY OPINION.They have seem to put out the best paticle pearls.Off the top of my head right now they have two great offerings.

1. Depth Charge
2. X-Factor ACE

Dale,

I haven't heard of anything in the making....there have been a ton of talks about the particle pearls.  If you're looking for a smooth reaction from a bowling ball, Visionary is coming out with a stronger Centaur in the next month or so.

What type of reaction are you looking for and what balls are you throwing now that your are trying to fit a particle pearl in with.  Let me know and I'll be happy to recommend a ball for you to look at and maybe even purchase.

Steve

Well, there is the Purple Ice Ex which, if memory serves, is particle pearl. That ball is either all of nothing, however. I had one, but I didn't care for it that much. I just couldn't find enough conditions to use it on. When dull, the damn thing would hook on Ice, polished it would go long and get squirty. I don't know, that ball just seemed to work well when nothing else did. On the flip side, that ball wouldn't work on a lot of shots, too. I would have to agree with Chinaman, as far as PP's go. Storm seems to have the best offerings. I haven't seen any negative comments about the X-Ace yet, and Himmler sure made it look good. Although I love Visionary, if you're looking for a PP, Storm may be the way to go, for now anyhow.

Dale,

What type of reaction are you in search of and what is your axis point?

Ok, I'm looking for a ball to fit in between my charcoal & crimson executioners. They are both drilled the same - cg on centre of grip, pin to the right of the ring finger (I'm right handed) with a small balance hole to bring the balls back to legal, I have 5 inch pap.

I'm looking for more of an arc than a skid snap - the crimson executioner gives me the skid snap and the charcoal goes earlier and ends up being a hard arc. So something in between there would be good. I thought that a particle peral would give me the reaction I'm looking for. I'm looking to build me arsenal around visionary equipment, I love the roll & hit of their equipment and the looks on peoples faces when they say...whats that you're using ?

Thanks again

While the big blue pearl is a great ball he is obviously looking for a Visionary ball as he has clearly stated.

Blindstag--I guess you'll have to wait a bit longer for Visionary's entrance into particle pearl as Jason mentioned earlier in the e-mail.

Maybe Jason will respond as to their time frame???

Hi Guys,

We are always working on several balls at the same time, and currently we are just finishing with the new Centaur that should be out at the end of November or beginning of December.  This ball is at the ABC as we speak, and as soon as we receive approval we will set an official release date.  We are also working on a particle ball for extremely heavy oils, new reactive covers that handle heavier oil patterns better, and yes we are also testing out particle pearls.

Now, there is no way of telling which of these will be next, it will all depend on how the development of these covers progress.  We have never been a company that rushes new releases along just to have a new ball on the market, and we always try to fill holes in the line, or the demand of our customers.  I would be very interested in hearing what all of you think we still need in our current line.  You can either post your suggestions here, or you can email me at vbpadvertising@aol.com .

Blindstag,

Have you thought about looking at the Violet Gargoyle...?

That would probably fit the best!

I_Bowl4Money....

I had thought about the violet gargoyle, and have spoken to Jason about it to get some recommendations on how it should be drilled and surface preparation etc. At the moment thats the ball I am leaning towards until the particle pearl comes out, any thoughts anyone ?

Thanks again

Jason--How will the new Centaur differ from the one that is out now?  Cover/core?  Will it be a medium ball or med/heavy?  How much different from the Violet?

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,

The New Centaur core has been modified slightly from the original both in shape and weight distribution.  I think most of you who own the original Centaur, and pick up this one will be amazed at the difference that a slight adjustment to the core can make.  This ball is a pearl, and will come polished, so it does go longer than the original Centaur, but when it revs up look out.  It will create 5+ inches of flare and turn in a hurry.
As for lane conditions, it should cover most medium to medium-heavy lane conditions.  Being a polished pearl, bowlers with less hand may need a little dry to bounce it off of, while bowlers with a lot of hand may need the oil to keep it from snapping too soon.  There is something a little unique about this ball, and as soon as the ABC approves it (which hopefully will be within the next few days) I will let you know what it is.
