Hers' the "real" deal from Jason. All the facts. Just in case you were wondering about the two new Pearl Ogres....due to release mid-April to Test Staff, etal. This is verbatim. My purple/black is on order. The purple/black is coming out first.
"Hi Scott,
The Purple/Black is a strong pearl. It uses the Eradicator Pearl, which handles more oil and carrydown than any of our other Pearlized coverstocks (and is stronger than some of the particle pearls I have tested). I know everyone wants us to come out with a Pearl Particle, but it isn't coming just yet.
The Silver/Blue (which will be out in a couple months) is more like the Green Gargoyle, in that it is more of a skid/snap ball. Not great for carrydown, but can open up the lanes when the shot has fresh backends.
Additionally, in the plans (but not finished yet) is a particle Ogre for heavier oils, and possibly a hard urethane to replace the Slate Blue.
I will add the spec info to your order, and get it out to you as soon as we release it.
Thanks again,
Jason Wonders

The purple/black one sounds really nice and just makes it that much more of a plus that it comes out first.. I might have to pick it up myself, but I'll probably wait on a few reviews or possible video footage.
Thanks for the info!

Jason just emailed me back...update with more info (lane conditions)
The Purple/Black Ogre, for those with average hand, should work on most medium conditions. More hand, and it can handle medium-heavy, less hand, and it can handle medium-dry. THS with some carrydown as well. Affirming what was suggested previously, I quote Jason, "This cover is stronger than any of our previously released pearlized covers, in that it will handle more oil and carrydown."
I think the Blue/Silver is pretty obvious -- light-mediums, with clean backends.
Hope this helps!

Particle solid Ogre....hopefully in the plans for later this year, along with a urethane later as it sounds they are talking about them!
