I picked up an Immortal Solid from dumperdeluxe on this board and got to try it out for the first time last night. All I can say about this ball is I Love It!
I hate to show up for my Friday night league with an untested ball so I went to the lanes to get a few practice games last night. I knew that the Thursday night league doesn't use all the lanes but that they dress all the lanes before the league so I'd be seeing a similar shot to what I will see tonight. It took me a few shots to get used to the ball but once I did...look out! I'm a cranker who normally plays a deep inside line with my Roto Grip Epic and found that the Immortal liked a similar line to the Epic but would go a little farther down the lane then turn a little harder than the Epic. The end result was that I could play almost the same line as with my Epic but with a much different entry angle. I bowled a mock league set with some friends and bowled 191, 230, 217. Considering that I am currently carrying a 180 average in the two leagues I bowl in this is better than normal for me. Once I found my line I was able to ride it through the last half of the first game and all the second without having to make any adjustments. Early in the third game the lanes were starting to dry and I began to hit high. I had to make a slight adjustment (2 and 2) to keep this ball in the oil but after the adjustment this ball continued to smash the pocket through the end of the third game.
The biggest difference I noted between this ball and the Epic which has been my benchmark ball for over a year now is that I was leaving fewer ringing 10's with the Immortal. I don't know if it was the different entry angle or if the Immortal was just keeping the pins lower but the only time I left a 10 was when I missed my mark. Considering I have a terrible pick-up percentage on the 10 pin this was a VERY welcome change.
If they lay down a similar pattern for tonights league the Immortal will be the first ball out of my bag!
