Watched a couple guys throw them in league a week ago both dull and shiny. For a Visionary ball it was impressive. Angular and forgiving; credit where credit is due.
My only thought was, why isn't it black? I have never seen a silver and maroon raven.
Just curious as to the number of Visionary balls you've seen thrown in league...few...many??
I have been throwing VBP for the last 7 to 8 years and have had many of their releases. There were some that I didn't get a chance to throw as I've slowed down in terms of league bowling and all, but there have been very few VBP balls I've had issues with in terms of overall performance. Most of them have all rolled well for me, especially the pearls.
As for the black Raven, while I would agree in general, however as a ball maker, I think people have seen that a simple black ball doesn't seem to generate the same interest from the average 'Joe Bowler' that a multi-colored ball does. And proof was in the pudding when I bowled couple weeks ago against some guys where 2 of them owned a pro shop and when I put my Warlock pearl up on the rack, one of them came over and asked what was the ball. The last 2 times I shot against them I shot 720+ and 660+. I would attribute the question because of the shooting and because of the looks of the ball.
I think the fact is....the color combinations go a long way into making a sale to the average bowler. Me personally, I'll take a cool looking ball over a black ball any day of the week.
