Cover Stock on Burgandy Gryphon???
« on: February 17, 2004, 12:15:03 AM »
Those that have bought and tried Burgandy Gryphon's.  Is the cover the same as the Granite Gargoyle?  Heavy beard after using it a bit?

Thanks,
Scott

No, it is "traditional" reactive base with medium particle load, box
surface of 600 Wet Sand.

No, the only other ball that has the beard effect is the Midnight Scorcher (Visionary line).

Actually the cover is A strong reactive base( stronger than on the charcoal executioner) and a very high particle load, comparabley as high as a brunswick swamp monster. not a medium particle load. but it is a very long lasting particle type. polished well and hooks lots after alot of games. i still use one on a regular basis after nearly 8 months of constant use.

ball has an estimated 300 games, or more. ball has more games on it than any other ball i have had for the last 4 years i think.

After throwing the Purple Ice in oil for a few games it also grows a beard.

My Burgundy is so strong in the heads that if there isn't enough oil the ball explodes, and it's highly visible by the minimal amount of hook it will produce.  I repeat, this ball will flare at the minimum 6" of widely spaced rings.  Even though it's not great on carrydown it's so aggressive head oil is a MUST or it will catch fire.

I have it drilled aggressive to roll early, the pin is next to but slightly lower than the ring finger with the CG below the midline inside the positive thumb quadrant.  The weight hole is also in the positive thumb quadrant on the VAL.

For me without enough head oil this ball is useless...

Have you considered re drilling the ball? with a different layout?

Pin above the fingers with your cg somewhere your midline?

It's not neccessary to plug and redrill it, I do like the ball on fresh patterns and use it only for those.

I have tons other equipment for different conditions and patterns.
