Review of Gladiator LE
« on: March 17, 2010, 08:28:40 AM »
Since the ballreviews site doesn't have this ball listed yet in the reviews section, I'm doing it here instead.

I joined the Visionary test staff, and have setup the following arsenal
for all ranges of conditions.  I chose the 4 balls package, exchanged the
bag for an extra ball and bought a 6th ball too.  Any one can join the test
staff, so I'm not partial to the company, but found them myself from others
suggestions on how durable and long lasting while high performing visionary
balls are.  Also all mine are aimed at playing mostly outside straighter lines
with an arc, no angular type reactions.  They can play inside quite nicely
though still, so very versitile.

Heavy Oil:              Ogre Partical    600 Grit scotchbright  4" 75x65 Drill
Medium-Heavy Oil:       Ogre Solid       OOB Surface  4 1/2" 45x42 Drill
Medium Oil(bench mark) Gladiator Solid  1000 Abralon 3 5/8" 45x55 Drill
Medium-Light Oil:       Ogre Pearl       OOB Surface  4 1/2" 60x45 Drill
Light Oil:              Gladiator LE     OOB Surface  5" 75x42 Drill
Dry/Spare ball:         Ogre Urethane    OOB Surface  5" 105x42 Drill

All balls around 3 ounces top weight, top 3 are 3" pins, bottom 3 are 4" pins.
My Speed 17 Mph
I have Low-Med Revs
My PAP is 5 5/8" and 5/8" UP

The Gladiator LE I have is my light oil ball.

I used this on a semi fried out house shot, since it's my light oil ball.
It does very well on light oil, I was able to have full control.  It is
predictable and a nice arc into the pocket.  It also does fine even with
a fresher house shot, just have to play a different line and give it a bit more hand.

I really like this ball, very consistent and feel like I can always get
it into the pocket as long as I hit my target.  It scatters the pins very
nicely, really powerful hit for being my light oil ball, really like it.

I just recently got the Gladiator Pearl and love this ball.  The only difference seems to be the coverstock.  It's designed to go a bit longer.  My Pearl is more of a medium oil ball.  If it is dry, I have to hook the lane to hit the pocket!  But like you say it hits hard.  I am very impressed with Visionary products and will probably be a return buyer of their stuff!  I might even look into the test staff thing.

I will be picking mine up in a few days and get a few games on it as well.

I''m hoping the LE isn''t that weak, would like it to fit directly below my Gladiator pearl not the Green Gargoyle.  Although if it truly does or can that wouldn''t be so bad.

Right now the Crimson Ex is handling the spot under the Gladiator pearl perfectly but it doesn''t hurt to have contigency plans in case a ball breaks.
