Same Layouts
« on: April 10, 2010, 12:58:07 AM »
Has anyone used the same layouts on all their Visionary equipment in one line (ie. Ogre) and results?  Not necessarily meaning all stacked leverage.  That's not my meaning in this as lots of bowlers put a a stacked layout on all their stuff.

I am considering doing same as I've had all the Ogres and know what they are capable of and do well with one particular layout always seems to work for me.

I''ve been wondering if this is the way to go, just use one layout on all Ogre''s.  I had my ball driller lay them out, and he went from weak to strong drilling''s on the arsenal of 6 balls I got.  Yet if they all are essentially already weak to strong in coverstock, then I am questioning if the drilling shouldn''t control the ball strength and instead just be the look I want (and would probably prefer them all to work the same I''m guessing, never tried it though like this with a lineup).  Of the 6, and of the other balls I''ve owned, there seems to always be a similar placement of the pin and CG for balls that work best for me.  Always better if the pin is above my ringer finger slightly, and CG kicked out to the right a bit.  So I''m wondering why not just drill all my balls this way and do basically the thing your asking, have them all the same.  The ball that seems best to me is my Ogre Solid, followed by my Ogre Pearl, which both have the same look to the drillings although the Pearl drilled weaker I guess (but I don''t know a ton about drillings, just a little, still learning about that).

I think after you know what a ball line is capable of you can make educated guesses.  I match up well with the Ogre line and core.  I did not match up with the New Breed line or core.

Ray Salas uses the same layouts one pin up and one pin down on all his equipment.  Then, he can get a fair assessment of what a ball is capable of.

This is the layout I always seem to do well with.

Always seems to work on most lane conditions.  I may well go with this on all the Ogre's as I have had them all before.....dropping down in weight.

Just wondering what others have done?
