Title: small request for Visionary
Post by: getuaload on July 31, 2007, 03:22:11 AM
Hopefully Jason may be able to answer either way.

Would it be possible to fill in the CG / Serial numbers like you do with the VBP / Name. Reason i ask is the i tuck my pinky in if the cg/label is anywhere around that area i tear my skin. Even if it is in the palm area i can feel i and really bothers me. Anyone else have this type of issue ?
Just a small request should be much of a problem to take care of. thanks JP

I don't have that issue, but I know exactly what you are talking about.

I'm going to guess that the machine that does the logos is different from the machine that does the engraving for the CG/serial number.  The machine that does the logos is probably really good at drawing and filling the same things over and over and isn't so great at drawing a slightly different thing each time.  The engraving machine can be programmed to engrave the next number in the sequence, engrave something different for every ball.

Go to a DIY market or a model kit store and yourself some epoxy or nitro-based putty.

I can highly recommend Tamiya 2 component epoxy putty for bowling ball repairs, e. g. when you have shallow notches in the surface. You get it in good plastic model kit shops and it comes in various versions with different "open" times. Just take 2 bist of the stuff, weld it together for some time and fill scratches or the serial number engravings with a flat spatula. The material does not shrink and has over night the hardness of coverstock resin, can be sanded or polished with no prblem, and adheres very well to the rest of the ball. Nitro-based putties are cheaper, but more brittle and might come off through vibrations etc.

Only downside of the Tamiya putty is its color - light ochre or green, depending on the version, you cannot add other colors.

Here's a pic of the ochre standard stuff on my Blade Particle:

Will work perfectly to fill any engravings

Here a link to the stuff's packaging (green, longer open version):
