Anyone have any ideas how this is going to play out? I don't know much about what the Ogre Urethane is supposed to be, but a couple of weeks ago I picked up my second Slate Blue and the last couple of weeks have been killing with it late in a block.
Tuesday night, we got to the lanes to find there apparently had been no re-oil done that day. At our house, there are several different patterns that get laid down but the two primary ones are the league pattern and the open play pattern. Open play is lower-volume and flatter, and a little shorter. Several times this year there has been no re-oil for leagues on our particular night.
Add to this that on my pair were two people who started with plastic (and a third person started throwing an old urethane solid in the second game), plus we had followed quite a bit of open play from earlier in the day.
I ended up starting with my least aggressive resin piece and switched to the Slate Blue at the end of the second game, and was able to play a nice shot. Point to make here is that I hope the Ogre Urethane is close to the Slate Blue, although I probably took myself out of the purchase queue for the Ogre now that I went ahead and got a Slate Blue.
They're still available on eBay.
