stronger pearl
« on: September 23, 2008, 12:06:53 AM »
i am looking at a replacement for widow pearl.  I was probably going to go with the venom.  Venom is a little stronger.  Does any ball in the visionary line give you similar reaction.  I know some of the visionary pearls are older coverstocks. how much stronger are the newer coverstocks

possible replacements
g3
immortal pearl
ogre ss
gladiator pearl?

Every ball that comes out hooks more and more.  I think it harder for the smaller companies to keep up with that trend.  I think visionary has done a good job of handling the most conditions.  Their last few releases has been more in the stronger midlane reaction balls.(gladiator line, ogre particle).  I think they also have good choices in the extremes.

G-3 is strong as well as Immortal Pearl but more drill specfic so you can match up well.

Everybody knows I like the Ogre Pearl.

I haven't drilled a Glad Pearl but Krumpy has (see his review)....I see less and less oil so I really don't need any strong balls at all.

The Glad pearl is nothing like the BWP or the Venom. It it far too even a reacting ball

I'm using, on and off, an AMB Bronze Centaur. With a strong mass bias drilling, it is closer to the BWP in the backend department. The Immortal Pearl has more flare and a lower RG than the Bronze Centaur, so much so that it makes the ball too even, for most people. The AMB Centaur pearl has a stronger backend, especially if you move the MB about 3.5" from your PAP.

The G-3 Gryphon can be drilled to make it more flippy, but I'm inclined to believe that the AMB pearl Centaur, this Bronze beauty, will closer in reaction to the BWP without duplicating it.

The G3 and Immortal pearl are both very flippy, the G3 making a hockey stick turn and the Immortal pretty close to that, for me any way. The Bronze does have some late-midlane movement with a VERY hard arc, not really angular but a huge backend hook. I personally think the cover on the Centaur is a little stronger, I think the G3 and Immortal may use the same cover.
