test staff
« on: July 14, 2008, 11:17:55 PM »
heres the questions to make it short:

what is retail as I dont see the retail prices anywhere? so what am I taking 50% off of?

does everyone feel visionary can compete with the big companies? (not in sales but in ball reaction?)
Im betting so thanks to VBR (britton)

explained below:

right now Im trying to get my money together for a new arsenal for the winter season and really like what i see in visionary. the only other company that I really like is 900 global but I like being different and cant help but wonder what the gladiator could do for me.

my question is they say if you sign as a tester you get 50% off retail but what is retail? I cant seem to find msrp or retail anywhere.

If I need to Ill call but I try not to waste peoples time if im not ready to purchase or 100% sure I want to with visionary.

i like the idea also that you can pay just 50$ for another year. not a bad deal. sure its all marketing but if they really make an excellent product then i would have no problem helping their popularity.

right now I have:

lanemasters buzz
hammer no mercy (my league ball right now looking for the glad. to replace it)
lane #1 evolution
lane #1 carbide plus

as you can see i have no problem trying other companies that think outside the box but I have gaps in my arsenal and tend to just use my no mercy and evolution...

any advice? should I just call them?

Call them would be the best way as you'll get ALL of your questions answered and won't have to go thru a long progression of e-mails.

I'd ask for Jason and explain what you are looking at along with your stats. and typical lane conditions bowled on....the more info. the better.

I think it's the best thing out there and I've been with them awhile.  I've tried other equipment to see what was different or better...always come back to Visionary and do less and less comparisons as time goes on because I've come to the realization for me there is not much better out there.

I think you will find that the stuff they've got is more than capable of taking on anything the current big boys are making and putting out there.

I agree with Scotts33 though and to give them a call and see what they can do.  Gladiator is an excellent ball though.

Ogre series, gladiator series, g-3 not a huge amb series fan the particle amb polished way up is not bad on pretty oiled lanes.

calbowlingsupply.com i believe has the retails on it's site or used too.

well they better be some good balls

ordered:

ogre ss
ogre pearl
solid gladiator
pearl gladiator

i aslo upgraded to the 4 ball roller (i have a pickup truck so no problem there) and chose the ogre orange towel just waiting for the email so i choose the 2 shirts.

I was iffy on what to choose but i think that should cover me from light to heavy oil.

the only thing i can think of is if I hit carrydown with the ogre ss. maybe its possible to then switch to the ogre pearl? does that handle carrydown better or what would be my best bet?

im not too worried as usually in my area i only see bad carrydown when the heads gets ultra fried and its on one of those 1$ night things so those nights are pure practice anyway

btw betsy is the one who took my call and was very patient with me. (i changed my mind a couple times on her gotta keep em on their toes haha)

looking forward to be part of visionary... ive only seen 1 thrown and that was a b/g in about the 15-16 years ive been around bowling.

o the other thing im wondering is where would the glad. pearl fit in.

because some are saying the p. ogre fits under the solid glad. fine so would the pearl be good just to open up the lanes or would it actually be just a slight step under the s. glad?

Keep your eyes out for a used Slate Blue Gargoyle for the fried lanes!!

Also think about a Violet Gargoyle to add in there.  Great all around ball that will suit many needs!!  I think they've still got blems for a good price.  Great ball!!

i think i answered my own questions.

looked better on the site and said the ogre pearl and glad. pearl will handle 'some' carrydown even though they are pearls. hopefully its true because my pearls that i have now just skate on carrydown.

I could take my lm buzz to grey scotchbrite but i dont want to overlap the visionary stuff. maybe grey pad followed by a VERY light polish to keep it from reading the mids too strong but with a good finish in the backend. i had it at this surface and liked it
