The SS in action!!!
« on: August 02, 2007, 07:50:15 AM »
Hey guys, I finally got the time to do a small video throwing the Ogre Pearl and the SS on a modified cheetah pattern over the weekend. I didn't get any pics of the ball up yet as my friend has not returned my digital camera yet. I will tell you the Ogre Pearl was sanded to 1000 with polish and the SS is at factory 1500.

The layout on the Ogre Pearl is 4 1/2" pin to PAP, pin above the ring drilled label. The SS is drilled 5 1/2" pin to PAP, pin way above the middle finger with the cg in grip center.

Its not as fancy as my other video but it's still a good comparison. I hope you like it.

very nice.  I got my SS drilled yesterday, and threw a few games with the purple Ogre and SS to get a feel for the differences in reaction.  For me, the purple starts to hook a few feet earlier, and is about 4 or 5 boards stronger.  That is with the SS drilled pin above and between the fingers, and cg kicked about an inch from center grip.  The purple is drilled pin above the ring, cg about an iinch and a half from center grip.

I love cheetah...when you get lined up right, with the right ball it looks like someone kicks the ball off the one board...

Nice video twister...im looking forward to getting one and making a video also!

Nice job. I really like the reaction you get out of that SS. It really looks like someone keeps kicking it left when it gets out there. I'll admit, I was nervous on a few of those shots, but those balls recovered nicely!!

Both balls look sweet.  I may have to start lookin at getting one of the ogres some day.  I have too many balls right now to get one unless i sell some.  But the SS looks sweet rollin down the lane and like Rock77 said its like some one is kickin the ball when it gets to the 1 board.  I myself love the Cheetah pattern cause there is so much friction on the back end of the land the balls just take off.  Keep us informed as to how the SS stands up over the course of its use.  lata

Nice reaction on Cheetah twister.

I notice our PAP's are the same with your ball speed and rev rate higher.  Also noticed you have put label drilled these two.  Does it amount to a basic 105 deg. layout or ?

I'd like to know if this is your favorite layout or why you chose these two balls set up this way.

On the Ogre pearl it is closer to a 105 but with the pin above the middle finger but on the SS it is closer to a 90 degree with the pin above the middle finger and CG in the grip center.

So basically I have a higher flare positioned pin (4 1/2" pin to PAP), stronger cover, and and even arching type drilling on the Ogre pearl. And then a lower flare positioned pin (5 1/2" pin to PAP), a lengthier cover, and a stacked drilling for flip on the SS.

Hopefully, when the Ogre pearl becomes too much I can whip out the SS and move in deeper but still have the pop on the backends.

With my rev rate and ball speed I try to keep my pin placements simple (pin above or below the middle or ring finger) and use coverstock adjustments instead of elaborate layouts and a lot of extra weight holes. The 135 degree layout I put on one of my solid Ogres in the first video is about as radical as I get.

I guess they call it the SS because calling it the BS Ogre would not sound right.  The ironic part, though, is that mine does not have hardly any silver in it.  It is more Blue and Ivory in color.

I hope I did not get a bad one.  On top of the off color, mine also had the filling in the serial number almost completely out.  I doubt it though.  Still cant wait to get out and use it.
