Thiking of busting out my frankie may
« on: September 18, 2010, 05:00:54 PM »
My last 3 league sessions were brutal.  I couldn't play right whatsoever.  Basically my only line with my current arsenal is stand left and throw it just infront of the pocket.  With my stats, if my breakpoint was either over board 18 or under board 15 approximately, my arsenal will either go brooklyn or right of the pocket.  Basically my line is too thin and way outside my comfort zone.

I was thinking of punching up a frankie may to open up the lanes for me.  Would you agree with that assesment or do I need something stronger from visionary? If so, how should I drill it?

Aside from my visionary stuff for some reason I've never drilled (don't ask why, but I guess you could say I want to save it for a time when I really need it, like now), my current arsenal is as follows.

stats: rh, 15mph, 250 revs. pap: 5 3/4 over, 1/8th up

Complete NV: 2000 polished, pin above ring finger, cg slightly right.

Fast: OOB (never altered the surface for some reason), pin above bridge and between middle and ring finger, cg slightly right but not past the ring finger.

Backlash blue/silver: 1000 polish, pin above and right of the ring finger. cg on center and midline. Looks like a Label drilling in my opinion.

Basically if my breakpoint was anywhere from 10 to the gutter, all three balls never make it to the pocket. The NV and Fast skidded too much and the backlash didn't have enough to turn the corner.  Some people were able to play around that area, but they used Virtua gravities and mutant cells.

So would a frankie may do the trick for me?

Little lost on the post....sorry.  Where were you throwing over?  If your break was 15-18, you must have been somewhere over by the gutter?  Or were you playing a small belly out to 15-18 and tried to get out to 10?  I know reading it, I need a little more.  That might help in answering the question.

Sounds like you can move your feet and breakpoint right. Have you tried to go straight up the lane around 8??? With your lower rev rate some surface on the complete might do it.....don't know much about visionary but i think your complete nv should be enough ball for what you are describing. Hit the compete with 1000 and i think you should be good to go.....

Honestly, would not hurt to punch it up.  Since the Complete NV is older, I am sure unless you hardly ever throw it, it has died out a little and not getting the same reaction as you did out of the box.

With your slower speed and rev rate, I would just put the pin above your ring finger and stack the cg under that.  Should put the pin around 5 inches from your axis and the cg stacked underneath should help the ball on the backend part of the lane.  Sounds like it should be pretty close to the same layout as your Complete NV.  Start with the surface at box finish since you said you cant get much else to hook and then adjust from there.  Chances are you may take it up to 1000 which will still be stronger than the Complete.  Start with the box finish though.

Gary and others, this was posted in 2010.  The OP has probably already drilled the ball up or may not be using it.  And if I recall correctly, I think the OP was selling off a lot of used Visionary equipment about a year ago.

Yep, found it:

I would wait until the OP posts back on this to see if he still needs any help with the ball.
