Toxic or Bronze Centaur or G-3 Gryphon?
« on: June 11, 2007, 10:13:54 PM »
The situation:
1) While trying to control the Immortal solid i realize that this monster is way to much ball for my house.
2) My Black widow are slowly dying (after something like 150 games and religiously cleaning).
3) I want a ball that is more skid flip in motion than anything i have.
4) I could take Immortal to a higher surface finish like 4000 or polish but i like to leave it at 2000 (1000 in OOB) and use it when it is recommended.

The idea:
A real skid/flip ball. Something for just having fun after a exhausting shift while trying to get rid of the days pressure. The bowling center where i bowl have a THS crown pattern with 25ml per Lane. I know i could use almost everything on it but it is not a crime to buy the proper equipment.

The opinions / rumors:
Toxic the best nothing hits like a hammer... blabla...
G3 nothing goes so snappy like the G3
I read myself about the Bronze Centaur and it sounds promising.

Any Ideas?

Well, I have the Bronze and it won't give you a skid/snap look. It's a very rolly type reactive. Don't get me wrong, it's a great ball, just not skid snap.

Now, if you want skid/snap, I have heard that the G3 Gryphon is the way to go. Personally, I have an Immortal Pearl and it is pretty snappy for me. I've also heard that there is a new Blue/Silver Ogre coming out that will be skid/snappish as well. The main difference between the three would be the amount of oil each can handle. I'd say the G3 handles the most, then the Immortal Pearl and lastly the Blue/Silver Ogre.

Hope this helps.

I am very suprised to hear that, as the BC is often called as skid/snap ball. By the way, i am aware of that a extreme motion (extreme ball + extreme drilling)like i want to see includes the danger of less carry and tons of splits. Life is to short to loose all fun by playing always 100% seriously.

I was tending to the G3, i think a good driller can drive this ball to the extreme.

I don't think you can go wrong with the G3. Based on what I've heard, it really is a skid/snap ball and it can handle some carrydown if you run into that.

Drill it accordingly and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

According to your profile, you have a T-Road Pearl that you say "flips the heck out".  What do you want different from that?

Also, do not wait for the next Ogre Pearl.  That may be too weak for your speed dominate style.  The G-3 is the way to go if you decide to go with anything.  According to Visionary, the G-3 is the truest skid/flip ball of anything that they have.

Another way you may want to consider, is the Immortal Pearl.  It has the same cover as the G-3 but with a stronger core.  Just a thought.

Hello, yes it flips allot, but with this balls (T-Road, BW, Doom) i am playing league and tournaments. So "it flips" under conditions where every pin counts from my point of view is something totally different then "it flips" in training of fun bowling.

So G3 seems to be the ball to go with. At this time i am thinking to go with visionarys test stuff program.
