Urathane Ogre? Help please
« on: April 12, 2013, 12:03:24 AM »
Does anyone out there own the urethane ogre? I would like yo hear on how it works for you! Also how do you have it drilled? I'm considering buying one because I'm going to a tournament that I know the lanes get bone dry  fast!

Drill it with a strong layout so you don't make it useless..I had one stacked above ring and it gave me a lot of options.

I realize you are looking at Ogre Urethane, but depending on weight, other options do exist.  Blue/Green Centaurs and Slate Blue Gargoyles do exist out there, though hard to find.

I agree with Bigz. I like mine but drilled it too weak and it's ONLY for toasted lanes and single pins. I tried to dull it down and 8,10 split city, so I polished it back up.

You should be able to swing it when it's toast?

Yes, But I don't find toast very often. I DO take it to every tournament I go to, just in case.

I also have one.  Mine is drilled pin over ring, cg center grip.  Mine is long and has an excellent recovery.

But word of warning for all urethane even the ogre in my opinion.  You still need a bit of head oil or this ball will still read and hook.  The cover is harder than most so it doesn't need much oil but if you think it will work when your reactive is hooking at your feet, you may be surprised.

I would recommend around a 5" pin up drilling to get excellent length and good recovery.  That's is what mine is and it works well for me, but I do have a ton of hand so take that into consideration.
