The Ogre SS will be drilled up hopefully for this weekend.  I would like to shoot with this come next Monday night, especially with the tournaments we've got coming up with City and then TCBA soon.  Very much so looking forward to throwing this ball!!

Gary,

I think you'll like the SS on worn wood or shorter conditions.

I am thinking about getting a New Breed Pearl or G-3 for worn wood w/ carry down.  G-3 will handle a lil more carry down I think from past experience with my older one.

I think the SS is going to come in handy when the lanes go south for the winter.  I just got rid of the Slate Blue to Matt (for his friend) so I need something to replace the conditions I used that on.  I wanted something more aggressive though as well....which the SS should be.

As it stands right now, I have nothing below the Violet Gargoyle, which is probably the weakest and most controlled out of anything I own.  I might also look into a Green/Blue Centaur and will be content then......for a while at least.

Problem will be coming into work daily....and seeing a NIB Violet Gargoyle....NIB Purple Ice....NIB Charcoal....and NIB Greenie.

good luck with that purple ex that ball gave me a few good games and overall just never hit well. layout will be alot more important with it than other ball you have nib.

Ogre SS is stronger imo than the Gladiator pearl, for me it hooks as much as the purple but more straight through the front and then more of a hockey stick type of hooking motion.

Charcoal well that is best ball out except the G-3 which is the best overall ball they have ever made.

Not going to drill up the Purple Ice yet Barry.  Not sure when I will for right now.

The SS I need to figure out the drill I want.  I might actually venture to a pin above bridge on this one to give me the length I am looking for....though I don't know.  Travel League is when the lanes go dry....and I mean to the point where the ball hits friction way too soon.  I figure between the cover and a pin up....that's going to give me distance on the ball.  Problem is....I don't want the ball for just travel as that's why I got rid of the Slate Blue....I never used it for leagues outside of travel.

Thanks for feedback though Barry!!  Always appreciate it from the ball connoisseur (aka ball w*ore) that you are!!

Mine is my standard 4 1/2 to pap and cg below but the ball was used when i bought it does have a weight hole 1 inch down from my pap roughly.

I think pin over bridge would work to from your video, your tilt will make it recovery enough imo. For me the SS is not weak at all just different on how it gets there, i have kept the ball it tells you something right there with me.

Not even for sale I like the hockey stick shape it produces and lets you project the ball through the fronts.

Gary,

I forgot to let you know I did get the slate Monday...

But anyways, the PIE I had drilled up worked really good at box on the shark pattern. But I had to be really consistent hitting my mark or it would skid right of 10.

The G-3 is really that good of ball? I cant believe its better then the Crimson. That ball is flat out sick. I had to snag a couple more to make sure I had a good supply of them.

I am ball whore but when I do throw any G-3 over the years my scores almost always over 210, shot over 480 for two games many nights.

Still have two G-3's both pin down because it smoothes it out, I think taking out the snap is the trick with the G-3 balls.

On the PIE...best condition I found this ball works the best for me is moderate medium sport condition or somewhat like the 39' Chameleon....no big OB to the outside and enough head oil in the front.  Could play small swing/arc tighter line with PIE no over reaction and very good carry.....as soon as that part of the lane became unplayable I put it away as recovery from an inside/deeper line is not the PIE's strength and to keep storing enough energy to strike.

G-3 is a great ball.

I didnt throw the PIE on the chameleon because my charcoal was working great. Couple saturdays ago we played around and laid a Shark pattern on the left lane and a Chameleon on the right.

The Charcoal worked so good on the Chameleon I didnt throw anything else...

Cool Matt....if in condition as stated and all, always appreciate the feedback.  Hopefully your friend will get more use out of than I have!

Outside of that....the PIE is interesting.  I talked with Jason at length about this ball.  I have made it clear that I am not a spot player....am an area player.  But I also found out this weekend that I am more consistent than I thought as we don't have those brown boards about 45ft down.  We did on Sunday in travel and I was where I needed to be playing down and in.....and playing out over 17-20 and swinging it.  I was over those boards a lot more than I would have thought.  So that's good.  But it still makes me wonder because I know the PIE you have a little room.....but not much and need to be consistent.

My shot will also be a small arc and tighter as I do not swing the ball in the typical sense.  Not enough hand to be doing that....and when I try....I have no consistency to hitting anything and in the release.  So I play my 3 basic shots which might not be bad for the PIE.  But for now.....going to do the SS and maybe the Greenie now.  Gotta think.

I think.....I might want to get a G-3 just for the heck of it too!!
