« on: February 18, 2008, 06:52:58 AM »
Gil posted this on the USBC forum but I thought other Visionary folks would like to know that Steven Vance aka TWOHAND834 took the early lead in singles at USBC Open tourney.  http://bowl.com/articleView.aspx?i=13977&f=4

The article mentions him using "old reliable" but not much more than that.

Thanks scotts for posting this.  My "ole reliable" is the Green Gargoyle that I have used for 8 years.  I take it with me everywhere I go.  I was playing 25 falling back to about 12.  I believe that I was also the leader in All Events with the 1937.  The shot this year is really no different than any other year.  It plays flatter than a THS, hooks a little in the middle and the more you swing the ball, the less it seems to hook.  The only place you could not play is outside 5 unless using a sand blasted ball and a good amount of rev rate.  The shot is definitely what I would call fair.  Thanks again and hope the rest of you have the same good fortune as I did out there.

BTW......after shooting the 729 in Singles and making some money in brackets, I headed over to the booth, spoke to Frankie for awhile, and then walked out with a NIB Green Gargoyle and Blurple Ogre.  Can't wait to punch them up.
