Immortal Solid?
« on: March 20, 2009, 07:41:25 AM »
Any opinions on this ball? Heaviest ball I currently have in my minuscule arsenal a Cell Pearl and I'm looking for something to use on heavy oil. Should I just play it safe and get a Cell or Rogue Cell?

you need the right drill, the right condition , and the right release and revs..with all that it is a great ball..
without it.. its a dud...
I think MB position it very important on this ball.. I had a 5 inch pin close to VAL and 70 deg mb and my ball would not hook up and would only move but 3-5 boards.. great down and in ball.. and carried awesome..

Safer option (drilling friendly) may be the New Breed Solid...

The Immortal Solid rolls heavy.  I like mine a lot, but if the conditions are not right, put it away.

If you are not looking to swing the lane, the Ogre Particle is not a bad choice either. At OOB, it chews oil seriously.

Another very good ball is the Frankie May Gryphon. Same cover as the IS, but a "tamer" symmetrical core that is not that as critical to drill as the Immortal's high flare core (Which is a great ball for high speed players who have littel time to have the ball break and roll, esp. on oily shots).
At OOB surface, the FMG is a heavy oil ball, but the surface can be tweaked easily, IMHO a very versatile ball.
