Visionary Particle Pearl?????
« on: October 12, 2006, 06:25:52 AM »
I really like Visionary equipment and they have bowling balls to cover every lane condition. My Only question is will they ever make a Particle Pearl Coverstock?

The Purple Ice was not a particle pearl but more of a solid particle......even though their web info. says it is....ask anyone who had one and I don't think of it like any other pearl particle I have owned or rolled.  Very early rolling ball worked for a few but not for most.......I never could find a condtion I matched up with mine.  On heavier sport conditions and flatter patterns I'd get better match up with a Midnight Scorcher when using a solid particle.

Visionary has never made a pearl particle but maybe something is in the works.  IMO......their pearl reactives are some of the best.  ie. G-3, Crimson Exectioner, Green Gargoyle, etc.

Scott,

Did you ever try to take it to a finer grit than the stock 600 grit?
Visionary does/did say it was a particle pearl; it was just released with a dull cover, much like the Roto-Grip RS-P, which is 800 grit.

I always thought about trying one, but all the negative reviews dissuaded me.

Today, I'd try to modify the surface tp 1000 grit compunded or 2000 or 4000 grit. I'd bet it would be wonderful, given Visionary's really good cores.

(Side Note: as time goes by, does Visionary's match-ups of coverstocks with cores seem better and better to anyone else? I wish they'd name their coverstocks so we could track how they worked with each core with which it's used. I wish, I wish ...)

Thanks for all of the replies to the topic. What are the likes of finding a NIB Purple Executioner? As a customer I would really like to see Visionary make a Particle Pearl bowling ball. I wish they would name their coverstocks as well. I have the Immortal Pearl and it is a monster, does anyone know anything about the Immortal Solid?

Jeff,

Yes I did try finer surfaces this was before abralon but I got what I found the best for this ball at about 2000.  Because the particle in Visionary balls are much more grabby and you can actually feel them to the hand much like the Midnight and Granite.  Any which way I laid it out to my PAP and ball speed it's just an early rolling ball that would best be suited for very tight lines with some speed on heavier sport patterns.  Must stay under it with forward roll I found.  Needless to say I found the Midnight a better choice in that part of the lane on very tight lines with flooded heads and more playable.

I do think Gene Kannack <sp?> liked the one he had.

Audric,

You and I feel the same way about the Purple Ice.  When someone can explain to me where the pearl is please let me know and I'm not going off the Vis. website.  It's more solid to me than pearl.
