Visionary Test Staff
« on: March 08, 2006, 07:34:02 AM »
Would like some imput from others who have done this.  Is it worth it?  Whats are the prices of balls, with there discount.  I am very interested in doing the gold membership.  I have tried Visionary in the past and have liked them a lot.  Thanks in advance.

I think it is worth it.  You are allowed to order two of each ball per year with their discount pricing and they are pretty good at sending the weights or pins you request.  Plus, you can call and talk to someone at the factory if you have any questions.

axewelder--The test staff option used to be a good deal.  I feel it is no longer.  Why you may ask.

See what Buddies sells them for ---> http://buddiesproshop.com/products/1-Bowling_Balls/0~99999/11-Visionary/All/All/page.htm

Take a look at Gargoyles. $87.50 to $85.50 + shipping which should run you $12-$15 so you are at around $100.  $22-$24 difference.  Vis. charges you $50 to re-up per year after the first year.  Say you buy 4 balls a year.  That's $12.50/year which is basic shipping price.  Only gold and platinum members get free shipping.

It's an OK deal but not a great deal.  Especially if you like to try other stuff that's out there.  Also, I am not a ball shill like some that frequent BR that get their equipment free.....so do consider the source when you listen to opinions here.  Of course, this is my opinion.

I have been on the test staff since 2002.  So, I am not a johnny come lately.

My best set 2 years ago was shot with a Violet Gargoyle 105 deg. layout on a wet/dry wall.  793.  Last year it was a 796 with an old DT Thing.  This year 780 so far with an Ebonite The One.  No company can say they have the best balls and it's why I have moved on......so many company's have good equipment why narrow your choices?  For a test staff membership to pay for itself you should tow the company line to pay for it.

I think that it is worth it if you are planning on buying alot of visionary equipment.  If this is the case I would go with the gold or platinum.

I can also see where scott 33 is coming from in that the web pro shops
have now eliminated the "real"" advantage to the test membership which
is the price break.  You still get great support from them, and I would say
better selection (pin and weight)

I myself have tried other balls, and so far visionary has been the best for
my game.

For me personally I purchased I around 10 balls this past year. The free shipping I got plus the discounts really helped a bunch. I am a platinum member and I do buy a lot. I have decided that I am going to renew my membership this year. Their equipment is spectacular and it has matched up well with what I do. I am a platinum member and will remain so.

I purchased a platinum membership back in 2000 at a time where the selection wasn't as good as it is today but I am real happy with the equipment I selected for my membership. I think the benefits are very good as you get balls at 50% off, free shipping, and the best service from betsy and company you could ask for. Once I started using Visionary most of my teammates and my wife have purchased Visionary and have been very happy. I have bought several balls for family and friends and was able to use my platinum discount on all purchases and the customer service is second to none.

I was considering getting a test membership...but the deal didn't seem quite good enough....especially in consideration of the amount of exceptional releases there have been lately.

So...I took a different approach and picked up a number of used Visionary (Charcoal, Violet, AMB Bronze, AMB Solid and Blue Sparkle) for around $200 total. I've been extremely impressed, especially with the Violet and the Bronze, and will probably purchase more Visionary in the future.
