I did a search to find a particle pearl and low and behold the orge pearl shows up in the search. SO is this correct is the ogre pearl a particle? I was leaning toward getting the solid but if it is in fact a particle I will be getting it.

No, the Purple and Black Pearl Ogre is NOT particle. It's a pearl reactive and very good one at that.

does it have the characteristics of a particle? I want a particle pearl but I also want the solid. Between the solid and pearl which would you rather have in the bag? I bowl on a med-heavy house shot.

Yep, I'd go with the Solid on a med-heavy house shot all issues considered. You can tweak the cover on the Solid to match up best.

check out Jason's view of particle vs reactive in the Q&A part 2. May help you come to an answer. But I would go with the Solid also.
