Slate Blue+B/G Centaur- What's next?
« on: June 21, 2008, 07:40:11 AM »
Ok. I've got the Slate Blue and now the B/G Centaur. Which ball would you consider the next logical step in building a Visionary arsenal?

                               Thanks,

Every ball mentioned is going to be very different from one to another.

I think all agree the Blue Centaur is the ultimate oil ball and I agree with that.  I've thrown a Scorcher and had little success in true heavy oil with the ball.  I've also thrown the Immortal Pearl, and for all the flare the ball was supposed to have...it didn't.  These are things Jason and I talked about in mails and in San Antonio.

The Immortal Pearl, for example, may have been burnt up for me on my lanes.  Not sure...didn't give it too much time before I opted out of the ball.

Also, I wouldn't put the Violet Gargoyle down at a light oil ball.  If there is oil and there's dry....that ball bounces off the dry very well.....maybe not as much drive as the Ogre Pearl, but it is one of my most versatile balls to say the least.

If you've got the Slate Blue and the B/G Centaur, there is so much more to cover!!  Go and buy a ball for each condition!!  LOL!!!

I would look at:
- Medium light and less - Green Gargoyle (though this ball may also work in the mediums)
- Medium to Medium Light - Ogre Pearl, Gladiator Pearl (more medium+), Immortal Pearl and Violet Gargoyle
- Medium to Medium Heavy - Gladiator Solid, Frankie May, Immortal Solid

The problem is what I find in the above, someone else with more or less hand in the ball is going to see differently.  Best bet is to see if Jason will give you his opinion.  He is....afterall.....Da Man!!

Very true.  And some people will find that they will have more success with Visionary's pearls if they take some of the shine off first. Others may need to have more skid out of the solids by taking them to a higher grit number or using some polish.  Just too many variables between the bowlers and the lane conditions they are encountering.
