Thebowlingicon,
So you want to know more about Visionary!! Good choice!!
If you do a little looking around, you will notice that the forum has a dedicated following of bowlers who love the stuff Visionary produces. And if you go to their webpage,
www.visionarybowling.com, you can snoop around and you’ll run across the following eventually, “Our two main beliefs at Visionary have always been to produce bowling balls that work for the general public - not just the pros, and to release new balls that fill a performance void in our line such as hook, length, back end reaction, etcâ€. There you have what Visionary is all about!!
You are not going to see a ball of the month club in terms of releases….nor are you going to see a release of 3 different sets of balls 4 times a year…..no. They have balls that have been going strong for over 3 years now that are still offered. When the Immortal line was banned by the USBC due to the numbers the ball produces (the ball is still for sale mind you!!) they came up with a new lineup. Point is they have function….and keep it that way.
I threw Hammer before….that’s all I liked. I wasn’t too high on the Ebonite stuff, but I loved the Blade and Diesel lineups. What I really liked though, was the Faball stuff….the original Hammer stuff. And for your information, the family that created the Faball stuff is the same family that produces Visionary. Point is…..if you like aggressive….they have aggressive. But if you like control….there is plenty of that as well. It all depends on what your cup of tea is.
To help you out, I’m adding a link to another thread. This should help you out in your decision about Visionary balls and possibly what to look for in terms of reaction. The information on the balls is about 1/2 way down and posted by irishluck821.
http://www.ballreviews.com/Forum/Replies.asp?TopicID=205312&ForumID=15&CategoryID=2In your thread though, it seems you play a down and in shot as well as a small belly hook. Not sure what you have for hand in the ball but that would help out a little. I’ve thrown a lot of the new stuff ranging from the New Breeds to some of the older stuff like the Gargoyles. In my opinion….you really can’t go wrong.
If you want aggressive and still want to play your lines….the New Breeds will do that. If you want control for the same lines, you go to something like a Violet Gargoyle, which to me is another version of the Hammer Hi-Rev Offset….my personal favorite. You just have to research a little and then….pick your poison. It’s really that simple.
And, no FIGJAM….but I am one of the people that is a perfect example of what Visionary has done for my game. I never hit the elusive 300….had a couple 299s, but in one year have thrown 4 300 games with 4 different Visionary balls. In my opinion….they simply work great!!
