Want to try a few Visionarys, recommend me a few!
« on: February 08, 2010, 03:21:31 AM »
I have taken a big interest in Visionary equipment latley. I've been doing some research, watching videos, reading the threads here and everyone seems to love this equipment. My only visionary ball was the immortal pearl I threw for a bit when it first came out. I've thrown the big companys most of the past few years and honestly I'm kinda tired of them. I'm planing on ordering a few balls this week and I'm currently interested in the New Breed Particle Pearl and Ogre Pearl. I'd like to eventually have 4-5 ball visionary line up for the tourney's I attend. I normally bowl on a medium THS, dirty backends most of the time. 400 rpm, 17.8 - 18 mph at the pin deck.

thanks!

I think the 2 you mentioned would be a great start. Or you could switch out the OP for a New breed pearl. Heck you could get all 3 New breeds and then pick up a Ogre SS for lighter oil and that would be a great 4 ball aresnal able to covere all conditioons other than extreme dry which the Ogre Urethane could take care of if you awanted to do one more.

I have only thrown the Ogre pearl and I liked it but the layout wasn't right for me for the conditions I saw, so I let it go to a guy locally, he proceeded to shoot his first 300 a couple months later with it. I do keep a close eye on this forum and liek what is said about this stuff.

If me and LM/L weren't on such a hot streak I would be trying out more of these.

Gladiator solid and an Ogre pearl to start. Both are great, I wish I bought the Ogre sooner.

The New Breed Particle Pearl is an excellent ball,I highly recommend it. I also like the Ogre SS. For dry lanes you will like the Ogre Urethane. You could get on the test staff and then get the balls right from Visionary at a discount. Check it out at visionarybowling.com Good Luck

lenstanles703 made a great recommendation.  The test staff gives you an option for up to 4 balls, some shirts and a bag (KR bag at that) and is the best deal that saves you more than you think!!

4 balls out of the current selection leaves a lot to think about, but the 3 New Breed balls will cover almost anything you are going to see, and with your hand, you should easily be able to cover heavy oil down to a light shot with thought then going into something for dry/spares.....and that would be the Ogre Urethane.

At test staff prices.....you really can't go wrong in that it also allows you money off other balls......and any bowler has to love that part of the deal.

Keep us up to date on what you do!!

Since, you own a pro shop I assume you can deal directly with Visionary or get good deals from a distributor.

I'd stay with solids mainly and the OP since you mention "dirty backends".

4 ball line-up I like.

Frankie May Gryphon - heavy
Solid Gladiator - med-heavy
Ogre Pearl - medium
Green Blue Centaur - light-med.

I hate to say this but I have to as it's nothing bad....

You can't really go wrong with any of the current VBP products, or past if you can find them.

I'm using the Gladiator pearl, Crimson Ex, and Green Gargoyle mainly with the G3 and BG Centaur for special occasions.

I don't see enough oil to use strong equipment but I find the Gladiator pearl to be as benchmark as they come even more so than the Code.  I find it to  have amazing versatility and response to release changes.  Mine is drilled to read early but I can still get nice length with good pop depending on hand position.  It easily handles all ranges of medium.  Too bad I don't see it getting enough love here it's definitely an under rated ball.

Out of what I'm using it handles carry down the best but I will admit most of my VBP doesn't fare well on it.

Check out what Josh has in 16's.  A lot of old school stuff here ----> http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1311&_nkw=visionary+bowling&_sacat=See-All-Categories

That Blue Warlock is a perfect arcing medium ball for a solid.  $62 is a deal IMO.
