Need Centaur Particle layout suggestions

Hi. Just bought an AMB Centaur Particle from 10PinsDown in AZ and am looking for drilling suggestions. PAP is 5 1/2 x 0, high track, 16 mph, and a fair amount of hand but can also play up the back. 5 weeks ago we had 2 300's in the same night. I told the team "there goes the shot". It seems like they have been increasing the oil every week and also making the pattern wider. Last night I was throwing a BVP Mammoth , surface @ 500, over 7 with a little point, up the back as a defensive line. I have a ball spinner so changing surfaces is not a problem but was hoping to get an idea what type of drilling works best for most people here. I have enough equipment that I don't need to make this a versatile ball but I do want it to cut through the oil. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Alleys are synthetic by the way.

Moon,

You cannot give this ball a strong layout because the ball itself may be the most overall hooking ball in history.  That is no joke.  I had one, drilled it 5 3/4 by 5 1/2, left it at box finish.  My first pitch never made it passed the arrows.  The ball was already gripping the lane and going left, and on a fresh shot.

I would put a similar drilling in yours.  Put the pin above the finger and the cg in the grip line.  You will not need a weight hole.  Even with a length layout, at box finish, you will have a difficult time getting through the heads.  With your ball speed, you will need to adjust the surface.  I had to take mine to 2000 just so I could use it.  

The ball already has flares A TON!!!  Put a length layout in it, no weight hole, and adjust the cover to get the desired length.

I have one drilled 4 3/4 x 5 had to shine it up it just sucks in the polish, still one of the strongest bowling balls I have ever thrown. You would need the Exxon Valdez type of shot for this sucker to work in box finish.


The polish is on top of 2k abralon and multiple coats, so be ready to shine away and it will still out hook an Infinite One in box at 500 with a stronger drilling.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like about 5 x 5 should give me a very usable ball. Sounds hard to believe I would need this on a league shot but they've really jacked the oil up and then it gets pushed all over the place. Hopefully this ball will help. One thing for sure, I've never heard anyone say this ball didn't hook in oil.
