Well...lets see what everyone else thinks....
« on: February 23, 2007, 01:11:28 PM »
Here is my current arsenal:

Granite Gargoyle
Violet Gargoyle
Green Gargoyle
Slate Gargoyle
Ogre
Blue/Green Centaur

I am looking to add at least 1 more ball to the lineup. I wanted to join the test staff and get the platinum membership, HOWEVER, I just don't have the extra cash for all of that right now...but I probably can swing 1 ball here soon. I have picked and narrowed it down to the following choices:

1. Immortal Solid-looks sweet and reminds me of the Vicious Particle. Diff out of this world

2. Frankie May-symmetrical core

3. AMB Centaur Solid Reactive-same cover as Frankie...core intrigues me

4. AMB Centaur Particle-what can I say but EARLY roll

If I were to join the test staff, these would have been the 4 balls I would have chosen....

I also thought about another Ogre or Blue/Green Centaur...but I also have a glaring hole for something that has a lot of diff and is a high powered core ball.

Which one do you think I should get...AND WHY

Remember...I am lefty and my speed is not up to what I had right handed and I turn the crap out of the ball for some reason...

Hmmm...here is my thing about the Bronze Centaur is its a reactive pearl with a high diff...any pearls for me do 1 of 2 things, they either go 60 ft in oil, or have so much move off the dry I can't control it. There, for me, seems to be no in between....

However, since I am a lefty now, I would love to hear WHY the Bronze Centaur should be added to this list. Tell me about your experiences..

Clint,

The Bronze is not a typical pearl reactive.  The one I threw was rollier than most pearls I have used.  In fact, the Green Gargoyle changed direction more violently than the Bronze.  When designing the Bronze, Visionary already knew that they had 3 balls with angularity (Green, G-3, and the Crimson Ex).  They did not need another skid/flip type of ball.  After looking at your arsenel again, you dont have a ball with higher flare potential.  The Bronze's look is more like a sanded pearl, if that gives you a better mental picture.

DO NOT get the AMB Particle unless you are really weak wristed and are on a high volume of oil.  At 320 grit, high load particle, with my rev rate, on 40 foot pattern, I could not get the ball passed the arrows.  I had to take mine to 2000 abralon with Magic Shine and still hooked the entire lane.  I would recommmend the AMB Pearl or Solid as the next ball.  You wont be disappointed.

Good luck and welcome to our family!!!

THANKS Steve, I appreciate the info.

Have you drilled or thrown either the Immortals?

Clint,

I believe that you would benefit from the AMB Bronze, AMB Solid, or the IMMORTAL PEARL.  The reason I listed the two pearl balls is because even though they are listed as pearl, their coverstocks are very versatile.

You truly need something between your Granite and your Violet.  Either of these balls will work.  I've drilled up all three of these balls for my left-handed friend in KS and his primary ball is the AMB SOLID.  I really feel any of them will work as the cores are nearly identical with the variation being the Immortal.  The rest will be simply the layout you get on the ball and getting the surface matched up for your current arsenal.

**On a side note about the membership stuff.  You don't have to buy the listed packages.  You can sign up for $50 and still get the same great prices as any of the other memberships.

Best of luck in choosing....you're definitely better off passing up on the Frankie, Immortal Solid, and AMB Particle for now.

    Nice vids!

    Thanks for the suggestions....

I knew about the diff packages, BUT, the platinum for the money is by far a steal...and why spend X amount of dollars if you can save or what not for the best package...

I agree..the AMB Particle, Immortal Solid, and Frankie May are high powered stuff...I like the way the Bronze Centaur rolls...

Yeah.  The platinum is the way to go.  I have not thrown a Immortal Pearl but have thrown the solid.  Even with a weak drilling, it revved up ALOT in the mids and surprisingly did not quit on the backend considering how early it was.

It appears that the Immortal Solid, while SUPER strong, is still arcy on the backend...is that what you saw out of yours?

The Platinum package is by far the best deal in bowling today for your everyday bowler..

I did switch to Mo...however, I closed my shop and lost my pro shop staff deal as well. Nothing against MoRich either...great pieces! However, with me bowling lefty, I needed something to be smooth and get down the lane. MoRich has lots of high powered stuff...but not much on the smooth end...but Visionary does.

Like Ihave always said, everyone makes great equipment, but its a matter of matching the ball to the bowler....
