There is a big talk about Visionary making a Particle Pearl. What are your feelings about particle pearls? What do you feel you are getting by having a particle pearl bowling ball?

This is an important topic that we need feedback on from the bowlers and test staffers. Please post as this is a hot topic of discussion. Feel free to check out the poll on the Visionary Homepage as well.

I like a pearl particle on fresh shots to control
the backend reaction and they are not quite as sensitive
to transition as a resin ball for me. I ground up two
Track Freak Outs that I used as benchmark balls.
If it went long and hit flat I knew I needed something
stronger. If it didn't push down the lane I knew that I
needed something that scooted more. Both were 5" pin to axis
with the mb on the val and a small hole on pap.

Not a big fan of particle pearls here. The reason for this is that most of the particle pearls do not start up early enough on heavy oil, but seem too snap/hook way too much for a medium pattern. It seemed to me from the particle pearls that I have thrown (rock star, eraser pp, depth charge) that they are very much a niche ball. I like solid reactives, solid particles, and pearl reactives, as they all seem to have their place, but particle pearls always seem way too condition specific for this low end, medium speed tweener.

In general, a polished pearlized particle is an excellent weapon in anyone's arsenal. It should be required for every manufacturer to have at least one. They are an all-purpose ball that can be used by almost anyone, on a wide variety of conditions.

They are smooth, big hooking, virtually control balls, unless someone tries to make them flippy. Core should be medium RG ,like 2.53 neighborhood; RG diff should be at least .045. Load should be light to just short of medium, never heavy. Base should be resin, not urethane.

I will be attempting to get a test staff membership a little later in the year, I have a Midnight scorcher and a Charcoal Exc. The Charcoal Exc is the best ball over all I have ever thrown. I was using a different companies particle pearl and loving it, I had it drilled pin over middle finger and cg to the + side of the grip center. I have a very difficult time with solid particles because they just grab way to early, the particles give me all the length I need and great control at the break point. I can use them either on a fresh shot with strongish back ends, to control the flip, I can use them on medium oils, because of the pearl and drilling like a regular pearl resin almost. Most of all I love to use them for when the oil carries down and the heads go away a little, solid particles start up to early and have to little left to get through the carry down strong enough, then the particle pearls show their worth in my hands. Personaly I would like to see a particle pearl Gargoyle, I think a carry down capable version of the Greenie would be nice?

I like what they have right now, but between money and wanting to wait for a particle pearl, I will have to wait till later in the year to try to sign up!

I have had poor luck with particle pearls. For some reason, I have over under problems with them. They don't recover well when sent wide and over react when I move my feet right. I do much better with straight reactives or a solid particle ball polished. Just my 2 cents.

Same problem here, never found the great "control" in these balls that everyone else is talking about. Maybe its due to my high axis rotation, but solid reactives seem to work much better for control than pearl particles.

I agree 100% with you.
I have 2 Purple Ice Exexcutioners (one used, one new) I have been playing around with the used one, and found that it worked best for me on a sports shot. I believe this ball was a particle pearl, but it came scuffed(600)
I have 2 Charcoal Executioners, that I use, One label leverage, and one 315
The 315 works best, sometime on a fresh sports shot I might have problem,
I think that a pearl particle work work will right them for me especially a 315 PIE.

I think a pearl particle using a variation of the Executioner core, or the DC core would be good, but seeing as the gargoyle line looks like it is going to be "the line" I would put it there. I have thrown the green, and the Slate,
and both are good. I think there might be a small gap in between the violet, and the green that a particle pearl could fill.
