I currently have 5 Visionary balls. I have the Granite, Green and Slate Gargoyle, Blue Gryphon, and the Purple Ice Executioner. I typically use the Granite Gargoyle and Purple Ice in a full synthetic house which seems to be oiled to the decks. I clean the Purple Ice with a green scouring pad and soap and water after every week. And it seems to work well but I do tend to leave a lot of ten pins. It hits very hard but I get a lot of ringing tens. The granite hooks less so I use that once the Ice is hooking too much. I use my other balls in an all wood house that tends to be dry to medium oil. I start with the Green Gargoyle and then switch to the Blue Gryphon when the backends get too jumpy. The Blue has less backend then the Green but it turns about 5 feet earlier. Which works great when the heads are ok but when the heads dry out I have to switch to the Slate just to stay in the pocket. The slate is easy to control and makes a nice move but it doesn't have the hit or carry of reactive equipment.
So my Question is what do I try next? I am thinking about getting the Burgundy Particle Gryphon for the synthetic house to combat the oil, hopefully leave less ten pins. But what do I do for the all wood house? I don't want to give up the hit and carry of reactive equipment but I need a ball I can get to the pocket when the lanes dry out. I was thinking about getting the G-3 and seeing how that reacts. From what I have read it should get a little more length than the Blue but have the backend of the Green Gargoyle. Which doesn't really help my situation. I like the way the Blue Gryphon hits. It seems to hit as well as the Purple Ice and carrys very well. That is why I want to try the new Gryphons. What do you guys think?
BTW both my Blue Gryphon and Green Gargoyle are drilled with the pin above and between the fingers and all of my balls are 16lbs. I have been talking to few people and they have told me to try using 15lb equipment because you don't give up any carry dropping to a 15lb. I don't know if I should. I don't feel like the 16lb equipment is too heavy for me. What do you guys think about that issue?
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
