First Impression: Green Gargoyle

For todays comparison I will use the AZO Drastic Spec-R because that is the ONLY ball I have that moves like this one does.  (Sorry to those who are unfamiliar with AZO but I don't own anything similar.)

Drastic SPEC-R: 16lbs 3-4" pin out distance drilled label leverage.

Green Gargoyle: 16lbs 3-4" pin out distance drilled pin over the ring finger, stacked over the CG with the MB is the strong position.

Both of these balls get down the lane very easy on the drier lanes, actually they get down the lane great.  They also make a serious turn once they reach definite dry boards in the backend.

I've used my Green Gargoyle on both lane surfaces, one oil condition was the Great Wall of China on synthetic lanes, while the other on wood, was a strange pattern...OB outside of ten with the center ten boards oiled as well.

On the synthetic lanes I could easily play outside the oil line straight up the ten board, or play ten to five and back.  The Green didn't even feel the friction until it reached the 40ft mark where it started to makes it move.  The backend is as advertised, pretty aggressive.

On the wood lanes I had to play a tight line in between 15 to 10 but it held the line well.  If I hit some oil here or there the ball continued to skid until it hit the definite dry in the back, when the Green would turn over and hit the pocket.

I can see playing on a variety of conditions where you can easily find dry to make the turn.

The Green hates oil and dry alike, that massive backend won't be good for you if it hits the dirt before you do.  The hit and carry is typical Visionary and you won't have much to worry about.

The major differences between the AZO Drastic Spec-R and the Green are:

AZO hits and carries better, but cannot be played deeper than the third arrow.  The ball is succeptable to squirling, and could cause alot of over under if played in the dry too much.  I found the Green to at minimum make the recovery back to the pocket to leave weak sevens or fours.  It will struggle also but has more balls than the Drastic does.

If you play on drier lanes more often neither ball is speed or release sensitive in a forgiveness sense.  If you purposely change something you will get the results you're looking for.

The Green is my new go long turn hard ball that quietly fits into my bag of pearls.  I have a few smoother, even, control pearls so I was in need of the Green.
