« on: November 29, 2004, 10:23:05 AM »
I'll be there. I live about 2 miles from this place, literally down the street.

Oh yeah, Eugene McCune called and told me it was "My Week." So watch out ladies. hahaha.

I hope you guys come. Should be great fun.

Dan you know what time it starts right?  Check at 9, bowl at 10.

Bowl 6 games, top 16 for 8 more games of round robin match play.

Hope to see you there.

I'd stop in...but I'll be busy running the JBT at Orleans that day.
Starts at 9:00 am and the scratch division will be bowling on a sport-type condition.
Good luck you to guys in NoCal !

Mark, I think it would be quite a long drive... perhaps about a 550-600 mile drive... just to watch a bunch of clowns try to bowl and complain about lane conditions.

Dan, should be a house shot on Sunday. People still complain. What's new?

The scoring pace there is pretty high though. Sunday's turnout could be bad because of some Travel league going on for the Modesto-area kids... but i hope at least 30-40 for the boys division show up.

Dan, it all depends on the center. A few tournaments last season had some tougher scoring patterns, some were just off the wall. Its more like a wait and see kidna thing. I don't bowl at Holiday Bowl, but they can have some high scores, and some days the scores can be really realy low. Just come in and play your cards as you see them.

I bowl league at Holiday. They recently "tweaked" the house shot. Don't expect it to be real easy. Not a sport shot, but not an easy walled up strike-a-thon either. If you get soft with a shot or tug it a bit - the ball isn't going to hold. Get it too far right and it ain't coming back. However, if you find your shot, and execute consistently, you can shoot decent numbers.

Let's have a report. You guys that bowled - what did you think of the new-improved house shot at Holiday?

I saw part of it.  It took +1 for the first cut to top 16 out of 57(?) boys and -112 for the top 8 of 16 girls.  High qualifier for boys was +190 and for the girls was -1.  Second block Pat Haggarty starts first 3 games with 812.

More oil than you usually see.  Miss to the out side and it will it will not come back.  Guys that scored bounce the ball off the oil in the middle.  Looked like straigher shooters had pull, but no swing.

I saw the graphs today. Pattern lenght was only around 30 feet, and the ratio was about 4:1. Pretty abrubt drop-off around 10 board, but with around 10 to 12 units on the outsides, there shouldn't have been major miss room to the right. Sounds like it played the way it should have played. I know we've got some complaining in my one league at Holiday with the newer house shot. It never had much tug room for me in the past, but the recovery was more reliable. Now I don't have much recovery, so I'm having to be more careful with my shots (don't you just hate that!)

I guess Eugene (McCune) was wrong in saying that it was my week a few days ago... lets put it that way.

Anyway, the breakpoint was in the track area. If you got the ball to read that area in the midlane, you had a good chance- especially if you had some hand or if you don't, some coverstock. I had troubles in repeating shots personally and mentally, so that is my flaw for the week. Perhaps a bit of practice before a tournament does work after all. Oh well there's a next time.

Yeah - my only good look for the last month has been my Eliminator. Ultimate burns up, Original Inferno starts up too quick, and ths shinier milder stuff gets squirrely. I can use the Intense when the shot starts to go, but the old pattern which allowed me to kick butt with my Monster Red/Black and other such milder stuff is history. It's a funny house sometimes. If you match up, you can shoot some big numbers. If you don't, or you start getting sloppy, you can have a nightmare day.
