California Singles Classic!!! Read!!!!!
« on: February 14, 2005, 09:19:25 AM »
Well everyone that was going to bowl this tournament is not now. I just got off the phone with the director and they said they didn't have enough pre-entries so it is canceled. I think that is lame but i guess i am not the director. Later

Josh, you need to call the director back and tell them that there is going to be alot of people, I know a ton of people that have been all saying they are going, but signing up on the spot there, probably atleast 20 people, its the director's fault for sending the entry forms out so late but yea, thats pretty gay though

Everyone needs to call. I have called 3 times already. I think he already called the bowling alley and told them we are not bowling so it is hard to change that. Later

Yes CSC is Cancelled, and it is not the directors fault.  It was scheduled on dates conflcting with other tournaments (College Tournies, NorCal Doubles) so it is cancelled and they are going to figure out future dates so they can have a lot mroe entries and a better tournament.

Sorry we cant please you Jared but would you rather have a tournament with 20 people or 75 people?  If they reschedule it so more people are available to come, it will be a better tournament.  They had less than 20 people signed up as of today.  I'm sure there will be a future date and when I find out Ill post it.

Thanks
PJ

So its not the directors fault that they scheduled it on the same weekend as those other tournaments and took to long to send out their entry forms? Lol, well thats there job to schedule and send out isn't it? Yea its more fun when there is more bowlers, but there has not been any 75 bowlers, atleast just in the guys division and also there would have been atleast 40 bowlers in guys division this year if the entries would have been sent out earlier because alot of people planned on going and paying on the site, but oh well, just another blow to junior bowling in Cali

Other tournaments were scheduled after this one had been set in stone.  But its being rescheduled so its no big deal.  And if you are so bummed about junior bowling in California then go adult.

Here was a chance for all you other bowlers to show up and have an equal chance on winning this tournament because some of the college bowlers were not going to be there.  And what happens?  Not enough participation.  That is really not the directors fault, sounds like lack of particpation from the bowlers itself.  Sure there can be blame on the directors somewhat for mailing out forms late, but ultimately, everyone knows that this tournament is held the same time every year.

If you are all upset about it being cancelled, I suggest you spam the directors phone with calls asking them why it was cancelled.  This way it shows that you are actually interested in bowling.

And really, another blow to junior bowling in California?  Don't buy it.  It's not like Silencer will be missed by going adult in the first place.

maybe if u say ur going to have a tournament ... heres an idea.. have the tournament.... its for the juniors... and if ur expecting more then u get well then thats just life.... cancelling on the people who would have gone there is a load.... i mean yeah it woulda been cool to have a great turn out but heres the thing... theres not that many competitive junior bowlers anymore... not gonna get 100 peopel like it used to be... if 23 people were confrimed 23 should have bowled with however many walk ins.... and for the "Nor Cal" people who live in another world.... you guys have other tournaments to do.. thats fine... go and do them and im sure u will... so u cant bowl this one.. life goes on and stop crying about it... and yeah this tournament is cancelled and life will go on down here in so cal as well... fact of the matter is we woulda had more people from the south bowling then from the north... so just cuz "Team Fresno" wouldnt be there... is not that big of a deal, so 5 - 10 less people... whoopty doo... so go deal with it and we will all see each other at the next big tourney...

Damn, this was going to be my first year bowling it, and I guess the best chance I would have ever had since no college bowlers would be there. Oh well, guess I should start bowling for some school so I wont be so inferior.

Why don't some of you bowl for a college?  I mean seriously, if your game, and not yours in particular, is that good, you should bowl for some college.  Why hate on Team Fresno, they and some of the other schools have college teams. Just because they are a nationally recognized bowling program doesn't mean that any of you had the opportunity to bowl there or any other program in the US.  Is that like saying everybody hates fresno because they are stacked and good.  The same reasoning for everyone hating Duke in College Basketball, or the Patriots in Pro Football, or the Detroit Red Wings when there was a sport called Hockey?

Sure Team Fresno not being there this weekend will level out the field, which should make some of you very happy.  I suppose it's a good thing that Saginaw Valley or Central Florida or Kansas were not located nearby, there would be more schools to hate because they were not bowling.

(From the other CSC thread...)

Hello all,

If I may.... :-)

JBTSW has no problem with "the replacement event" or anyone from L.A. who decides to bowl that instead. We know they're not trying to compete (although we'd love to continue working with other groups / events in the area to avoid any overlaps-- between us, JST, JAT, and independent events, if we all work together we could have an exciting, jam-packed Cali schedule)...

That said, we'd love to see folks come to Sunset Bowl in San Diego for Saturday's JBT SW event. $200 is always our minimum first place scholarship (with 1:6 'cashing' the rest of the way), and those points awarded at each event help determine our big money year end awards.

For much more info, please visit us at www.jbtsw.com.

Good luck to those of you who bowl "the replacement", and we hope to see everyone else Saturday!

Council....I am well aware of who Mark French is.  Know his bowling credentials.  I know he is one of the better bowlers in the nation, and probably the best in Ventura.  And I remember he won the scoring fest in Fresno last year.  And yes he beat everyone rather handly last year.  And I realize that some of you would rather prefer to actually go to school instead of bowling. Cal Lutheran is a very fine institution and academically wise, kicks Fresno's bottom.  Let's face it, most athletes who can't get into the better universities, usually opt for the state schools because their requirements are less stringent.  If my college had a bowling team, I would mix the studying in with the bowling, but first off, not too many people here have heard of Cornell and don't know where it is.

Iowa Man?  Good try, why don't you try to get it right before calling me Iowa Man.  I am from the East Coast, so if you didn't have this No Cal-So cal thing going on, we could start the whole East Coast-West Coast thing.

Credentials:

12 300 Games
9 299 Games
16 289 Games
5 800 Series

Is this what your looking for?  There is no need to post any names here. What good will that do.  Let's just say that if we had some decent tournaments back here, I would bowl.  Plus I am planning on going adult.

Well from what I have seen from college bowling from some of the bowlers, you do not necessary have to have "game" to bowl for some school. In my opinion I think college bowling is very lame...but to those who do it and like/love it, thats cool, good for them, I do not have anything against them. Team Fresno is really good, and if I were to bowl for a school, it would probably be them since it is somewhat close to home and stacked. Also anyone who hates on Duke, should die! Haha, thats my team, it's all about J.J. Redick baby!

Actually when I heard that all the college bowlers would not be there because of a college tournament, it made me not want to go even more. Did not really feel like driving all the way up there for a JAT pretty much. And I wish other college teams were close, cause there is nothing greater than some great competition. Peace......
