CSC REPLACEMENT TOURNEY IN SO CAL
« on: February 14, 2005, 04:41:19 PM »
Alright! so here it is... pulled it out tonight and the tournament will be at
BUENA LANES
Ventura, Ca
(805) 656 - 0666

no name for the tourney... we can just call it "The Replacement Tourney"

60 $ entry (cheaper than Fresno)

heres the format:

Saturday February 19th @ 10am

9 games qualifying (more than likely moving pairs)

(this will hopefully be on some sort of sport shot or PBA shot... please let me know about suggestions so i can talk to the directors... )

** Sanctioning is not finalized as of yet... since it is such short noice to put something together out of no where... we are hoping it will be because that would be nice... it more than likely will be i would say**

Sunday February 20 @ 10am

(Depending on entries)

cut to top 16 and do a PBA style elimination bracket
- Best of 3 game matches (2 out of 3 wins and moves on)

** if entries are lower we might have a round of eight instead... but i believe we can get enough for top 16 ... maybe 32 if we get a mad good turn out**

cut to round of 8 then 4 , 2 and a champion

based off of only 20 entries top 8 would get pay out i believe with first place as 200 $

i am sure there will be more than 20 and hopeing there will be at least double... everyone and anyone is invited to come... let me know or let buena lanes know if u want to bowl... it will be a fun little tournament since CSC is not happening this weekend and i know a lot of people had plans to go up and bowl CSC... so this will be a good tourney on some sort of shot and with a pretty decent prize fund for having 5 days to put this together hopefully...
come out and bowl!

So let me get this straight, you're going to talk to the directors and pass along info on the shot?  How fair is that.  Do you have some "in" with the director?  Why don't you show up and just figure out the shot like everyone else expecting to bowl?  Unless that's the only way you are going to bowl, by knowing what shot it's going to be?

A $200 first place prize for a 2 day tournament seems a bit on the low ball side. Some may want to venture down to San Diego and bowl JBT for a possible equal or greater prize.  And with a week's notice, you're telling me they are going to fill this tournament?

They may not fill it, but at least its something those who had plans to bowl CSC can bowl and just have a good  time.  And plus, JBT is in San Diego, most of us are here in the Los Angeles area, Ventura is about 3/4th closer then San Diego and Fresno for most of us, so who knows, maybe well get lucky and have enough participation.  Its not really a true replacement, its just something us bowlers here in ventura are trying to do to be nice to those who were excited about there plans for Fresno which just got ruined.  If people choose to travel 3424095839045809358905809548 miles to San Diego, so be it, its not like were trying to compete with JBT.

pen15, all you seem to do on this site is criticize everyone and everything yet everyone who I know on this site doesn't even know who you are...Why don't you tell everyone who you are first and then maybe people will actually care about anything you post...Anyone can talk big in front of a computer screen, especially when their name isn't revealed

As for the topic of this forum, I don't know how many people will be there or if I'll be there, but I can bet there will be more people there, in a tournament being put together 5 days before the tournament, then the Fresno tournament had

Silencer...You posted on another topic saying how bad junior bowling in California  is - then you say you might not go to a junior tournament closer than the Fresno one. Make up your mind, I mean don't tell me you want to find out the shot before bowling this too.  What is this fascination you SoCal bowlers have with the kind of shot they put out. You represent the best of the best and the best of the future of bowling, you should be able to bowl on 5 feet of oil.

Pen, when Mason said "(this will hopefully be on some sort of sport shot or PBA shot... please let me know about suggestions so i can talk to the directors... )", he was simply asking if there are any shots in particular BESIDES the great wall that Buena turned into in the last 2-3 weeks. I don't see how you could blame the guy for asking people if they want to bowl on something harder than a house shot.

Give us a break, we are trying to do what we can to give at least some of the 25 kids who signed up for CSC that aren't going anymore. Oh and hey, if you want, come down/up/out and bowl, but don't read the rest of this forum, it may soon hold the key to what the shot is...*gasp*

~Mark

P.S.- You ask if he has an "in" with the director? Mason and I, along with a few others, took the time to come up with the format. We wanted something for the kids to bowl that sounds appealing, and I know more than 1/2 of ya'll out there don't always want to see the scores through the roof.

First.....As I told you last night Mason, try to get a Gold qualifier if possible, and we will probably be there fa sho. Second, not sure if all us 90951/562 peeps will come out, looks to be that it will be a last minute decision. Third, to Jeff, San Diego is a bit closer for us and not 3424095839045809358905809548 miles away for us haha, so JBT is a possibility. And finally, fourth, to pen15, quit being bitter.....

Yea pen15, stop being bitter, the reason why I might not bowl this tourny is because I am most likely planning to bowl JBT..and no one even said they cared about what the shot was on here, all Mason asked was for ideas to make the tournament more fun

Is he running the tournament?  I understand that he and Mark have a lot of input into this tournament, but how about just surprising everyone when they get there.  Doesn't matter what shot they put out anyways.  You all have the skill to adjust according to whatever the lane condition is out there.

Hello all,

If I may....   :-)

JBTSW has no problem with "the replacement event" or anyone from L.A. who decides to bowl that instead.  We know they're not trying to compete (although we'd love to continue working with other groups / events in teh area to avoid any overlaps)...

That said, we'd love to see folks come to Sunset Bowl in San Diego for Saturday's JBT SW event.  $200 is always our minimum first place scholarship (with 1:6 'cashing' the rest of the way), and those points awarded at each event help determine our big money year end awards.

For much more info, please visit us at www.jbtsw.com.

Good luck to those of you who bowl "the replacement", and we hope to see everyone else Saturday!

Thanks,
Jeff, JBT SW
