CSC REPLACEMENT TOURNEY IN SO CAL
« on: February 14, 2005, 04:41:19 PM »
Alright! so here it is... pulled it out tonight and the tournament will be at
BUENA LANES
Ventura, Ca
(805) 656 - 0666

no name for the tourney... we can just call it "The Replacement Tourney"

60 $ entry (cheaper than Fresno)

heres the format:

Saturday February 19th @ 10am

9 games qualifying (more than likely moving pairs)

(this will hopefully be on some sort of sport shot or PBA shot... please let me know about suggestions so i can talk to the directors... )

** Sanctioning is not finalized as of yet... since it is such short noice to put something together out of no where... we are hoping it will be because that would be nice... it more than likely will be i would say**

Sunday February 20 @ 10am

(Depending on entries)

cut to top 16 and do a PBA style elimination bracket
- Best of 3 game matches (2 out of 3 wins and moves on)

** if entries are lower we might have a round of eight instead... but i believe we can get enough for top 16 ... maybe 32 if we get a mad good turn out**

cut to round of 8 then 4 , 2 and a champion

based off of only 20 entries top 8 would get pay out i believe with first place as 200 $

i am sure there will be more than 20 and hopeing there will be at least double... everyone and anyone is invited to come... let me know or let buena lanes know if u want to bowl... it will be a fun little tournament since CSC is not happening this weekend and i know a lot of people had plans to go up and bowl CSC... so this will be a good tourney on some sort of shot and with a pretty decent prize fund for having 5 days to put this together hopefully...
come out and bowl!

-Mason

hey jeff.... we totally forgot there was a jbt on saturday... we put the tourney together last night out on a limb because of the CSC cancellation we think it is horribly dumb that it is cancelled and wanted to have something... if you think a bunch of people from JBT who bowl would come bowl our tournament then we might be able to pull it to move onto sunday monday instead of saturday sunday.... we are not totally sure and i would have to talk to BUENa to see what is up... to PEN15 ... dude... you better be some God of bowling and be prepared to get something handed to you whenever you come bowl a tourney out here.... you wanna keep tlakin about stuff on here we mine as well know who you are... and thats that... and if we wanna let people know what type of shot is going to be out for the tourney before hand we will tell people... its not your tournament... so until you put one together in a 5 day timespan... know your place... and go milk a cow or something....

Hi Mason,
Sure, maybe that'd work well for both of us.  I'd be happy to promote your event as much as possible if it were Sunday / Monday.  That way people who want to do both might not have to make a tough decision.  Email me through the website if ya wanna talk more about this.

Thanks

ok.. so the tourney is set in stone to be on saturday and sunday.... 9am check in on saturday bowl at 10 and then matchplay makers come back sunday at 10am... too late to try and move it to sunday monday... AND THE TORUNAMENT IS OFFICIALLY SANCTIONED SO HONOR SCORES WILL COUNT!!!! .... so everyone who can come down.. and sorry to jeff and jbt for putting on an overlapping tourney.... hope we can both have good turnouts and have a better more elongated notice to have a plan for next year... so come down... there will be good scholarship payout and the more entries the more money... BASED OFF ONLY 20 ENTRIES THE TOURNAMENT WILL PAY AT LEAST 200 $ in scholarship and im sure we will have more than 20... so come on down to VENTURA FOR SOME FUN....

Hi Mason,

No problem, good luck to all those that decide to bowl "the replacement".

FYI, we schedule for the fall in May-June, and schedule for the spring in October-November.  We're happy (in fact we want to ) work with all groups to make the best schedule possible for bowlers in a given area...

Thanks,
Jeff

Thank you Mark for running such a good tournament even though there was such a big turn out. Sorry me and Brian didnt pre-enter before we came. We will make sure and pre-enter if we bowl again. Hope to see all of you in San Diego. Later

Hi,

Congrats to Josh, Brian, BJ, handicap champ Katie Andros-Murphy, and all others who made it a great day at Sam's Town.  Hope to see more Californians at out-of-conference events as the spring rolls on!

no problem jeff
since CSC wil be moving weekends as of this year, this tournament might be something to have in future years and if its something that is going to be put on as a major tournament... it will be known well in advance so we can talk about schdeuling... thanks for understanding and once agian did not mean to put somethin on the same weekend but it was on sheer impulse ... hope to see you at JBT sometime soon

Thank you to Mark and Jeff about the words. As what Josh said, sorry that we all did not pre-enter but I was in Vegas to party since I just turned 21, and decided to bowl JBT since we were there. Thanks again, and Mason, any word if there will be a Gold qualifier?

Hear yee! Hear yee! Mason and I have been talking and we've come up with some little side deals that may be of some interest for all of you...

Since there are 9 games of qualifying, I thought of having the following for games 1-2-3, 4-5-6, and 7-8-9:
~High game pot
~High series pot
~Brackets galore!
~Possible ball raffles!
~Anything else that ya'll might want

I'm going to talk to Mason and the directors at Buena more about it tonight and tomorrow, but I'm sure we will be able to have at least the brackets and high game/series pots. PM me or reply back if any of you have ideas!!

How did this tournament turn out?  Who won between Sherman and French?  I'm guessing one or both ran away with this tournament.

I, along with a few others, have been talking to Art and Diane to try and get little tourneys like this to happen more frequently, just with a few less games so we can do it all in one day. We were thinking maybe only SIX games of qualifying, then cutting to 8 or 16 (depending on the turnout) and doing best-of-three or something like that. We are always open for suggestions.

If we can get this going let's say every few months, we can more than likely acquire a few sponsors which will bump up the prize fund. Oh yeah, brackets and sidepots will be available as well. I must say that for a first-time event, we had a pretty good showing for both. If any of ya'll have questions, comments, etc., feel free to PM me or e-mail me at cousin_mark@hotmail.com. Thanks for all of you who bowled, and hope to see more of you in the future!

i am also hoping that we can get more of these tournaments put together to have more variety and choice for hte bowlers... as mark was saying it would be great to get a few sponsors and have a better turn out and have a larger prize fund.,... it was a fairly good turnout considering we were competing with JBT... but hopefully that wont be an issue at future tourneys like this and we will be able to have an even larger field....  the general manager of buena and i were ven talking about having a different shot out fo every tourney or something and have it be a series of tourneys... it would be very cool and would make sure for anyone to do good more than a couple times they will have to bring their A game... rather than bowl on the same shot every tourney... it would be a good change up.... and prepare us for future tourneys ....i was very happy to help put this tourney together and as mark said either pm him or i as well or email him and we will make sure to talk about suggestions of any sort... and we hope to be putting something on again sometime soon and like  he said there will be brackets and sidepots as well... makes it that much better...  with more time and preperation we can hopefully even make the future tourneys better than this one...  and maybe have even nmore of the local bowlers show up even.... it will be good... so anyways... hope to talk to you all soon and we will be sure to let you know well in advance of when  the next tournament will be....
