Firecracker & JBT TPC overlap
« on: March 07, 2005, 02:50:49 AM »
Hello,

It was brought up at JBT SW this week that the Firecracker and our JBT Touring Players' Championship is the same weekend.  I'm sure all the Cali bowlers will  bowl Firecracker (don't blame 'em), but we really would like our best Cali bowlers in the TPC, which is a really special event with big $ as well.

So... Cali bowlers or anyone else in JBTSW-land, what weekend would be left if we could move the TPC (which I'm not sure we could do)?  The 2 weeks after is Gold, 7/30 is Desert Open, 8/6 is JBT Vegas Open.... Is 7/23-24 open?   After that, it's 8/11-12, and I'd be worried that some folks will have gone adult by then...

HELP!!

Thanks,
Jeff

i suggest 7-23 and 24... that would be perfect i believe.... so if people are going to hawaii for that tourney they can still bowl the TPC... everyone can bowl firecracker and that can be advertised to other JBT bowlers to bowl and i think the tournaments in general would have better turnouts.... firecracker is a great tourney and offerend more than 10 thousand dollars in scholarship last year with only 70 entries... more this year will mean more scholarship and then people can also bowl the tpc... the week after JOG would be perfect in my eyes...

Hola,

Thanks for the feedback.. Ok everyone else, is there ANYTHING going on 7/23 - 24?  If not, I'll try and get the TPC moved depending on what's up at the center.

The Cali Firecracker is an excellent event, and the TPC is our season-end event, bringing together the very best from all of our JBT conferences, and will also award approx. $10,000 in scholarships, bringing our 04-05 total to a projected $150,000 in scholarships, so we want bowlers to be able to bowl both is possible.

For much more on JBT SW, please visit www.jbtsw.com.

Thanks!
Jeff

cant handle back to back tourneys or something.... scared ur hand might get hurt ;-( .... move it to that date i know at least me and a few others will bowl....so thats that...  i sya the more tournaments available to bowl the better... and if its available to more people on the proposed weekend of july 23-24  then it should be then to bowl... and if the only reason u dont want it then is because of desert open the next weekend, then you need to step up and pracice a bit more there son and get ready for more bowling..... go big or go home...

The TPC only effects a couple of people that were going to bowl the Firecracker. It isnt like it is effecting a whole lot of bowlers. It is nice that you are trying to change it Jeff, but it would only change about a dozen people. That is just my opinion

Hola,
Thanks for the input.  It looks like we might be tough to move it.  I've had flyers out with the original date for some time now, and a lot of folks have already scheduled other family stuff, etc. for that weekend now.

I wanted to move it because I don't want our Cali folks left out, but perhaps we'll have to plan better with Firecracker nest season.  When you run events from Texas to Los Angeles, it's hard to make everyone happy.

No final decision yet, but if it stays, I hope some Cali bowlers who are regular JBT bowlers (and thus TPC eligible) will consider the TPC even though the Firecracker is an excellent event.  22 games over 2 days with minimum 12 cash spots, $1K on top, $500 5th, and $10K fund isn't too bad either.  Hopefully those numbers will go up.

Thanks as always,
Jeff

Jrbowler, you annoy me, but you are right, hardly any Cali bowlers go to AZ events. I have never bowled the Firecracker, but I am definitely planning on it this year. So if they are on the same weekend, you got my answer. If the TPC gets swicthed, then maybe I will go, but will have to see...

I am bowling the firecracker and not the TPC unless the TPC is moved... I think most of all the Cali bowlers that aren't from the San Diego area but more of the Los Angeles area are going to bowl the firecracker...It's closer and with gas being at like $2.30 and going up these days, less travel is better, you can win more money which is very rare to be able to say about any California event but it is very well ran and sponsored...thats my 2 cents on that
