channel surfer, the problem is to getting the tour exemption points in the regional system... that will cost you a lot of money. PBA Dues remain to be the same... 20 bucks a month, and regional costs (hotel @ 79/night; 200 entry, equipment, gasoline/flight, etc.) are the same... yet the prize funds are the same ($2500-3000 for first place... even in the overcrowded south region!). Even though when there are 64 in a field... that means more regional players (or megabuck players, depending on how it gets sorted out), and hopefully more money will come there... but it doesnt look like it, at least for the regionals.

It looks like the kids in our generation will bowl the megabucks, after all. I think it's more reasonable for us to go there when we go adult as it isn't really worth it to bowl with Dave Husted or Wayne Webb in some regional right now, as they are part-time players. It looks like only a miracle that some kind of young talent will make the tour, as all the touring players are already going to get those exemptions.

Don't look forward to seeing young talent in the next 5-10 years on the tour. They are all bowling the high roller or international tournaments (The Tim Mack Tour) instead.

You will make the exempt tour if you have the money and accumulate all the regional points, from my standpoint... it looks like. the PBA needs to go back and run tournaments again, instead of creating a tennis tour.

no matter what... if it comes to that... and if i'd like to do a national tour stop. I'd spend a lot more money than before just to try it out.  The Amateur spot #64 every week will be tough... it will end up having "touring amateurs" going into that, so they won't get a card.

As for the new format itself, it locks out new young talent. whoever you see in the top 64 in points this year, is pretty much locked in for tne next few years.

I don't think that the PBA will see much change in membership. The new format will require adding over $500,000 to the total tour pay out for the 16 regular stops. Last seasons #50 in points earned $22,925 for 19 events, if he maintains that position for this season, he will be exempt and earn $32,000 for 16 events. Granted making that exempt list isn't going to be easy but the PBA has put the prize out there and given you a road map to get to it. Now its up to the player to go get it.

Wow, seems many others do not understand this exempt thing either. I mean, nobody has helped out the lady. Sorry Amanda, I do not fully understand this, so I am of no help. See you at the alley.

so now from this new rules, if you are able to bowl the tournament your guarunteed to make money because even if you take last you are making more then the entry fee, thats what it sounds like, that is pretty nice, but i think it takes the push outta you knowing you can shoot 110 every game and make money, with the old way you gotta push yourself to bowl good so you dont lose money, I bet with these no rules all that fierce competiveness is going to be gone, because you automatically qualify and there is no cut and its going to be the same people EVERY week!!!
