Last Shot At JOG
« on: April 29, 2007, 02:56:19 AM »
Wish me luck.

Back in January, it was my first try for a JOG qualifier, I was a bit overwhelmed and ended up shooting a 158 average (which put me in about 10 out of 15).

Last weekend I think I pulled a muscle in my forearm two days before, and I was having a problem with it. I managed to shoot a couple of 200+ games (233, highest of the day), but only averaged a 168 even with those.

Today I have no excuses. All of the "better" bowlers have qualified, but I know I'll still have to bowl my butt off. I think I figured out the shot after last week, though who knows if they're changing it today. I was stubborn last week and tried to play near the OOB, but I was having a consistency issue and I couldn't get the ball to the pocket consistently. By the fifth game, I decided to play through the middle and swing the ball with more side roll than usual. My Tropical Storm shined . I'll try a similar line today in the beginning with my Blue Vibe, then switch to the Trop when it starts to break down (as you can tell, it's a dry, short sport shot).

Wish me luck! These 10 game qualifiers are hell!

Well...they finally changed the shot up on us. The good news is that I got high game again with a 260. The better news was that it was fun competing against an awesome bowler like Chris Bolosan. The even better news is that I finished 3rd overall with a 191 average, right behind Bolosan and Steve Arehart, who both already qualified.

Going to book my plane tickets tonight or tomorrow for New York! I'm excited as hell.
