JOG PATTERNS amf airport
« on: July 09, 2007, 01:51:14 AM »
well went and bowled on the fresh shot yesterday morning. outside of 5 just wave bye-bye and wait for your strike ball to get back b/c you MIGHT get 3 pins if not its in the gutter. never seen an OB that much. inside of around 15 your ball takes off, i hot the 6 pin(lh) a few times getting it in there that far.

anybody else got info on other shots

ps. i meet brad angelo saturday and hes the most awsome guy i meet.

Looking at the graphs on the JOG website, it seems as though you should be able to play the outside with something fairly aggressive and surfacey.  Just dont try to swing it away from the pocket much.  Even something shiny and angular could work up the channel, outside 5.

Either that or deep inside, but don't let your breakpoint get outside of 10 if you do that.

Transit and Thruway should be fun.  You thought the OB on the Airport shot was bad...wait til you see Transit.  On this length I have had success with very angular equipment from deep inside.  Up the boards you better be able to split em.

Don't go on MySpace and say anything like that. People will jump on your for being "trash", even though they've never heard of JOG before.

I bowled at Airport tonight too, but the 7PM shift. I also did quite horrible, shot 955. Wasn't consistent at all. The pattern was so different than the practice, I had a hard time the first 2 games getting any kind of line. Oh well...I've got tomorrow off. Thruway (Cheetah) Wednesday morning, hopefully it will go a lot better than tonight did.

keep in mind the patterns play different from the practice session when you go on to the next day..just keep an open mind when you begin bowling.. i had a few bowlers call after they were done tonight and were complaining about the differences from practice to tournament day...they were stubborn and didnt want to make the move..they insisted on making a line that worked in practice work during their squad...

have fun with it..just keep an open mind.. two more days to bounce back..just gotta work hard

Transit lanes
you are going to need to play the middle of the lane, keeping your break point around 10-12. Just keep moving left till your ball holds (u may get preatty deep depending on the surface etc.

Thurway lanes
you are gonna need to get the ball to the ditch. This will give u the most room. But beware if u move to deep.

Airport lanes
THis shot will start out tight but will break down, generally. Just try to get ur break point around the track line.

so far i bowled at transit (monday night) i was very consistent, even though i only shot a 976. Almost every other ball was a stone 6 pin no matter what change i made, but definitely the middle of the lane is where you want to play it. I almost never lost the pocket it was just i had no carry there so i couldn't string any strikes together.

So even though i only averaged 162 i was very happy with the way my ball was reacting on that shot. Also that place didn't have any fans, (not sure about airport/thruway) but it gets very hot in transit with no fans.

I wish I could say the same. I didn't have a good line until the last 2 games, where I shot 211 and 141 (I missed by one board 4 times in that game and left splits, ouch!). Hopefully I can start off well tomorrow morning!

And the other alleys do have fans. It won't be too hot.

i had 1173 at Thruway on monday, threw the ball great missed 1 spare, chopped a 4-7, just could not get the key double needed throughout the games, i had 4 clean games, just a battle the whole way.

Tonight i had 1180 at transit, flat out threw the ball horrible, every ball was right off my hand (I'm a lefty!), i went like 21?-16?-21-159-159-269...and the 269 had 6 cross over strikes and 2 trip 4 pins, yeah i basically bailed my @$$ out.  I just took my inferno and played 18 at arrows to 15 playing an end over end roll jus trying to stay in play the last game, and magic happened in the form of cross over strikes!

Thats all for now!  Hitting up the falls tomorrow!!!  YAY FOR A DAY OFF!!!!!  Good luck to all!!!!

Do not make fun of me for this
First day was at Airport, and I completely hated it. For me, outside 10 was unplayable, even with a sanded down jolt particle drilled aggressively. I was forced to play the inside all day, and I was very inconsistent. I shot 932 with a high game of 182 coming the last game, lanes played a little easier.

Next was the short pattern at Thruway, first 4 games were not that bad, two 18? games and two 16? games where spares were the only thing keeping me from the 180-200 game. Then I went to the other end of the house where all hell broke loose. I shot a 134 and 144, I could not read the transitions at all. Ended with a 975.

If there is something I learned, I learned that I need a ton of practice still. Wish me luck on the Shark tonight at 7. I have not shot any lower then 534 on it in my PBA challenge league, but who knows how I am bowling.

Airport is the only fair pattern out there. I have seen people play from 1 to 25 and there is no advantage there for lefties, righties, crankers, or strokers. the only way your going to improve is not by complaining but by practicing on being capable of scoring on anything thrown at you whether inside or out. Good luck to you tonight.
