im a high rev player...i prefer going from very deep to about the 10 board, but ive been playing much straighter outside lately.  i throw mainly low-aggressive equipment b/c of my revs...is there an out-of-bounds there?...good carry?...thanks for the info.

so going straighter up the lanes is better there?...for a high rev player, will there be enough oil to use a very aggressive ball?...or should i plan on using a a weaker ball, which i usually get around 15 boards of hook with on medium oil anyway?...im just trying to get an idea of what to bring in august...all info is greatly appreciated.

The Orleans has Brunswick Anvilane as their surface (just without the lines every five boards). That is the slickest surface in the market, and the people at the Orleans keep that surface really really really clean, so it is already slick "as is". Also, the surface is still quite new, it's something less than 5 years old (less scratches caused by ball surface, which means its slick again). So a 35' house pattern (to me at least) "plays" a little longer... like 39-41'.

i know the anvilanes are slick...compared to the new amf lanes, its like bowling on ice.  thanks for letting me know what to expect, but does anyone know if there is an out-of-bounds on the outside of the lane, or is it basically walled up?

Erik,

It's not like Sam's Town where it's just a massive wall and almost any ball you have in your bag will work, but if you have the right "hand" and equipment, you should be able to do well. The higher rev players tend to use milder equipment and be able to use all the hand they want over there, and the straighter players can take out their strong balls and play their "A" Game, as well. It's capable of high scoring if you know what you are doing.

From the tournaments I've been to over there, their shot appears to be fair for all bowlers.

Speaking of Las Vegas, does have any idea what's going to happen to the Showboat? Tear it down and sell the bowling center equipment? What's up?

Looks like it may turn into a Hispanic-themed resort & casino.  No word of what will happen with the bowling center, though.

The lanes have alot of oil, bring an agressive ball and a towel to wipe off all the oil on your ball. If your throw an agressive ball you will score, I bowled in the city tournament and all the high scores were from high rev players playing up the boards instead of swinging it.

Yeah, well all the years before this past Wipeout there, they had put out tough conditions. This year, was just flat out WALLED. So I have no idea what really is there normal house shot, but hopefully its not a fat wall, so then everyone and their mom has a chance.

I've bowled open there spring break last year. The surface is in good shape, but in terms of amount of lineage on the lanes, It's probably of a lane surface that plays much older. However, the surface continues to play slick in the times I have bowled there in the past year.

In terms of replacement, if the Orleans has the money to do it after about 5 years, that will be amazing.

I may be way off, but is the tournament limiting the amount of equipment that you bring?

The house shot is typically very oily, so bad that when your ball comes back from the return you can see large amounts of oil on your ball. The back ends are pretty strong once you get pass the oil,if you bring the right equipment.I just drilled a Ultimate Inferno there and it came back strong.
