youth bowling is in a sad state...half of my friends who decided to stay down this year are considering moving up in January...especially those who have used rule 400 to their advantage and have cashed in some adult tournaments..some are thinking that they rather just take the cash for their efforts and tell USBC to shove it somewhere.. and now with the changes made to Jr Gold qualifying next qualifying season, I don't see many more highly competitive kids who dont necessarily have the motivation to make Jr Team USA staying down...

The youth bowlers are really getting the screw job here...and it really is upsetting being just a couple years removed from YABA (o sorry USBC Youth) and having a lot of friends still down.. they are stuck between a rock and a hard place with decision making here

The only reason USBC/ABC ever cared about the youth was to get their hands on the Smart money - about $20 million dollars worth. If you read the article in bowlers journal with the Dalkin interview, he has the gall to brag about the great financial condition he left USBC in. Where do you guys think that money came from?

As for USBC changing the rules for JG qualifying next year, it's never gonna happen. Reason is that they would never be able to certify all the houses and conditions and qualifiers, especially to their specifications. There would also certainly be less people qualifying and ultimately showing up to enhance their golden goose egg.

They muddied the waters by basically doing away with people as youth when they instituted this stupid rule in order to accomodate the Chris Barnes/Columbia Xmas tournament and to increase entries into last years Team USA trials. Now that they are taking the PBA members into Team USA, even the really good amateurs will get screwed.

Wait until no one shows up for this years trials. They probably won't care anyway as they will do essentially what they are doing this year....Pick who they want.

They want to change the qualifying so that it has to be done in a sport certified center and on a sport certified condition. Problem with this is that many houses aren't certified nor do they care to be. Even if they are, often the ability to put down a shot that will be "certifiable" and approved by then once the tapes are sent is not good. I can foresee a situation where someone wins a qualifier only to be told they didn't because the shot was not acceptable...imagine that nonsense. If this really goes through chances are kids in many areas of the country would have even less opportunity to qualify then they do now. Reality is more that even though this is a good idea in theory, in practice one would realize this wouldn't work and therefore forget about it.

It's in taylor Michigan. You won't need any nine millemeters unless you want to go to detroit, then you should be prepared for anything. Taylor is nothing like detroit.
