TRAVEL LEAGUE
« on: September 10, 2006, 06:29:17 AM »
Do any of the youth bowlers participate in a TRAVEL LEAGUE or have participated in them? How were they and did you find them helpful as you grew to be a stronger bowler? My son has been asked to be part of his centers TRAVEL LEAGUE and I am trying to figure out if I should let him do this. He is 14 and shoots in the 190's with alot of ball movement on the backend. Just wodnering what your opinions are on this.

Don't know where you are located but if you are committed to traveling and don't mind the financial investment, your son would be better suited competing in a tournament series like the JBT's, PJBT's or Maybe events that are held from Maryland to Connecticut every weekend. The best of the best compete regularly in these and you have the opportunity to win scholarship money as well. Check out these web sites if you are interested:

it depends on the league. there are those that have been around for awhile and have some prestige to them. I for one bowled the jat out here in california. it is a great financial burden but well worth it. there is a comradory that comes with bowling travel. with jat particular, you weren't just bowling at a new house, you were being taught a new lesson, win or lose. travel helped me notice weaknesses in my game like missing spares, endurance, mental toughness, all of witch make us better.

if you can foot the bill let him do it. then find others that our outside the house one that is ran by an organized group.

When you bowl a 300, then you have a little sense of what it is like to be Jesus Christ.
