USBC California Pepsi Challenge
« on: May 04, 2008, 05:57:45 AM »
I just bowled in the State Finals at Fountain Valley Bowl yesterday, WOW!!!!
The lanes were the most unpredictable and you had to play a line with about a 1/2 board to either side. It seemed like you had to get the ball on the 7 board for it to hold and get pocket, miss right, seeya that ball is missin the head pin completely; miss left by 1 board, that one is goin Brooklyn or missin the head pin completely. There were so many people bowling 75-100 pins below average, including myself, there were even a couple of people who didn't break 100

WOW. I won the Pepsi State Finals last time that it was at Fountain, and can you say walled? It has always been pretty easy there, and Pepsi always seemed to find the easiest places to host it. Did they put a shot out?

Congrats to all of the winners and placers, but most of all, to Preston and Natalie, the Boys and Girls Scratch champs! They both come from Yorba Linda Lanes, where I had bowled in the junior program as well. Jim and Butch run a great center and junior program and are helping each junior get better and better. Congrats again!

On edit: I just went to the link and saw that they had sport shot listed for the State Finals. Also top 3 of the top 4 roll off was from Yorba!

With USBC going to Sport Patterns for all National Tournaments, CA State put out a Sport Shot.  I am not certain they had to, but they did.  We had 6 bowling there Sunday.  Our one Boys Handicap came close to the cut.  It was interesting to watch.

Congrats to the winners and best of luck in Detroit!
