Best Ball/Ball Company ANd Worst Ball/Ball Company
« on: February 05, 2005, 11:54:08 AM »
yeah.... i just thought of this right now.. instead of praising or attacking the people that throw the stuff lets see what bowling balls and companies out there are doing the right stuff right now.... i have to say Brunswick And Columbia really know what their doing.... Columbias Balls Get Down the Lane and are very smooth.... they make a lot of balls yes.... but just about all of them are great.... their midline i would have to say is the best around... Brunswick has it down with the Hi Performance... their inferno line is untouchable.... it just has gotten better as time has progressed minus the little hicup of the blazing.... companies that arent doing it right now... Ebonite's Hi performance is crap.... enough said and i would have to say Storm has it going on right now with their low line stuff and just all around they are making good equipment... Track isnt really anything special since they got rid of the animals and AMF  is something that just keeps getting better.... but their hi line reacts mmore like a strong midline... still they are putting out good equipment.... right now i am all Brunswick and Columbia to have a good matchup with early roll and length.... what do u guys think about all the equipment out right now.... oh and best balls i believe.... the drive is very versatile and the dtour and rebound for columbia... brunswick has it going on with the zone classic, impulse, inferno, ultimate and ABSOLUTE......

I'd have to agree with that Mason. Just for a reference point though I did some research via PBA approved ball list and added up how many balls each company made in 2004. Here's the final count....keep in mind that a release of multiple colors of one type of ball is counted as one release. (i.e. Power Grooves = 1 release) and these numbers include plastic balls.

AMF - 6
Brunswick - 10
Columbia - 14
Ebonite - 13
Hammer - 8
Storm - 17
Track - 11

It does show that each company has its own strategy for releases in one season. I'm curious to see if the trend remains the same.

I really don't think there is a bad ball, you can always change the drill or the surface prep, yeah there are also balls that don't work with the vast majority of people but work well with others for some reason the hammer deal comes to mind. i have not tryed that many balls so thats my 2cents

wow.... i could have 10 different arsenals with the equipment i got.... but right now i am mixed brunswick and columbia... i could have a full arsenal of each but brunswick gets good midlane roll and rev up harder... columbia gets down the lane and through the heads better.... right now i got Detour, Ricochet Rebound, Big Bully, Zone Classic, Plastic (main 5), other that i siwtch in and out... ultimate inferno, intense inferno, raging inferno, inferno, purple pearl fuze, red/black monster (2), Super trooper (2), Blue Messenger, Maximum Velocity, Impulse Zone (2).. and im hopin to get an absolute inferno before CSC... mainly i just been throwing the detour and rebound... 2 great balls...  is going to be hell picking 6 to go with me to indy... haha... and i got so many balls cuz i work in a shop so they are cheap to get and because some of the balls i couldnt pass up like the purple pearl fuze and the 2 red/black monsters.... i also have a NIB Sapphire zone sitting in my room .... my tourney lineup will prolly be... Big Bully, Rebound, Detour, PLastic, Zone Classic, Absolute Inferno... if no ball limitations i take 9 in my truck normally so the other 3 would be random pick from the other 20 balls haha... prolly one of the impulses a monster and a super trooper... man i must be bored if im tlakin this much about my bowling balls... im out.. late
