Building a ball rack?
« on: March 18, 2009, 12:19:31 AM »
OK, the wife has directed me to construct a ball rack so that my used stuff isn't just lying around the house everywhere. The only problem is that I'm far from proficient when it comes to do-it-yourself projects like this. As such, I was wondering whether or not some of you could offer suggestions as to what to choose as far as materials and design are concerned. Ideally, I'd like to build two three-tiered racks that can hold 15 balls each (5 per level). The racks are going to be housed inside a closet, so I'm not looking for much in the way of style. Any input you all can provide will be helpful. Thanks!

Here is a homemade rack I built using plans from someone (sorry, I cannot remember the  user's name now) on this site http://bowling.psaunders.net/images/ballrack.jpg.

It is very easy and inexpensive to make.

Good luck with your project!

LeftyinSnellsville did.  Made it outa 1-1/2" pvc pipe.

I took that pvc idea and put a bit of a twist on it, made it 100% pvc and modular.  I'll share what I did a bit later in it's own post, but I can shoot you a pm w/the basics in it if you wish.

That's probably going to be the easiest (and cheapest) thing to build.

If you have a table saw you can cut the supporting 2x4's in half - they'll still be strong enough to hold the weight without bowing.

Good luck and have fun!
