Don't overthink this. As many said, in simplest terms leaving a 4 pin generally is indicative of being "too high" in the pocket. Some people will trip the 4 pin more than others on a given night because of different entry angle or entry board, etc. Your ball could be rolling out and hitting high, thus reducing your chances of tripping the 4 pin, but that's speculation without watching.
When you start leaving 4 pins, you need to move, simple as that. If the ball still comes up high, you might need to move back and "ball down", as you said. The 2 balls you mentioned will be pretty aggressive on the backends and the Break could be rolling out on you. Hard to say for sure what's happening without watching it.
You might have balls that are simply too aggressive. In your profile you mention you have a Lunatic, Creature Solid and Link. Have you tried any of those?
